Trustees’ Annual Report 2023
The Trustees continue to be encouraged by the progress of the choir. The choir maintains its support of local charities, worthy causes and churches at the same time as contributing to the promotion of major, national charities. The choir continues to advance the cause of Male Voice Choir singing, which is good to see, whilst being satisfied that the charity is being properly run and conforming with both the letter and spirit of charity law.
Concerts.
Financial constraints in local communities led to fewer local concerts, however we had two prestigious events, a concert in St Helens Town Hall with Rossendale MVC and another at the United Reformed Church with Newport MVC, both of which were successful.
In October our Annual Awards Dinner was held at The Masonic Hall, Bryn, Ashton in Makerfield.
Recruitment remains a priority for the choir but despite a reduction in singing members, we still continue to produce a high standard and give excellent concerts.
Financial Matters
Whilst the position remains sound, the reduction in the number of members is something that has an impact on choir funds. The Trustees meet every month and are acutely aware of the need to have a sensible view of how we use the funds.
The Future
This coming year the Choir will celebrate 100 years of singing. The Celebration Concerts are planned for March and September, where we have asked previous conductors to take part in the celebrations. The choir trustees see a choir living up to its aims, which are raising male voice singing, supporting music making and benefitting charities. It is well run and in good hands. Despite the challenges the future continues to look bright.
