## 3. **Overview of previous year** 

- Last 12 months has continued to be a positive year.  Successful in organising the nipper carnival again in Rest Bay and was a huge success and again great feedback received – will be a feature on the event calendar and also joined by Junior carnival in 2026. 

- Welsh Still Waters, GB’s and Beach continued to achieve great results from all sections of the club.  The breadth and depth of experience is growing and this was also evident at this years Welsh and GB’s where the sections attained fantastic results across the sections. 

- Continue to achieve success in progression of awards

## **b) Training Officer** 

1. No specific matters to raise from Andy Morgan - training officer, but we continue to have success in training members for level 1,2 and 3 along with beach helper and nipper awards and maintaining Rest Bay’s exemplary standards of training, which ensures that the club has members that have suitable skills, knowledge and experience to assist in training sessions, undertake voluntary patrols and where necessary to enable members to gain employment with the RNLI and other water based operators. 

   - c) **Treasurer -** Treasurers AGM Report (presented in the absence of Chris Page – Treasurer) 

   1. Thank you to Elleri Accounting Solutions who have kindly prepared and audited the accounts at no cost to the club. 

   2. Our finances remain healthy and I really appreciate everyone involved in collecting monies for the pool, events etc. and ensuring costs are always covered. 

   3. Annual costs to run the club are now around £45k a year but rising year on year. Mainly down to increases in pool fees, competitions etc which made up over £35k in 2025. Pool fees have increased significantly as the cost to hire the pool has increased and continues to increase yearly but also as we no longer receive a subsidy towards pool hire cost from BCBC. 

   4. We only showed a deficit of £851 for 2025 – thanks to fundraising, grant funding and other donations. This was despite the issue with SLSA Wales not invoicing us on a timely basis in 2024 for Stillwaters and Nipper Camps which totalled £4597 which were paid during 2025. 

   5. Some great fundraising initiatives last year such as the sponsored swim which was also replicated recently. 

   6. Last year we received a SportLot Grant of £10,000 for new equipment which allowed us to purchase new ski’s, paddles and other equipment. 

   7. SLSA Wales membership has risen for 2026 meaning we needed to increase club membership to £35 per annum. 

   8. Our balance sheet continues to look healthy through the first quarter of 2026. I have been successful in being selected as a charity by co-op community fund.

## 6. **Chairman’s Report – MD notes copied for meeting** 

_“I would like to recognise and thank all members of the committee for their ongoing contribution and commitment to making Rest Bay Lifeguard Club the ongoing success it is. From the Nippers section through the Youth, Seniors and Masters it is clear to see the enthusiasm and commitment from all the coaches, helpers and parents in making the club what it is today, with increasing numbers and participation across all sections. This, as mentioned earlier has played out across the success of the club in the Welsh, GB and wider stage with members increasing participating in RLSS Speeds events as well as in European events during the year._ 

_It is also good to see the increasing uptake and participation that is being experienced in the awards area of the club and this will enable us to not only achieve success in the competitive arena, but also to contribute to the club being able to undertake lifeguard patrols and fulfilling our main objective of ensuring that the beach remains a safe environment and we play our part in the prevention of drowning._ 

_I would also wish to make mention of the very generous gesture given to the club by the family of the late Ken Williams who was the grandfather of two of our previous members of Rest Bay, who passed away recently and for the family’s kind donation made to the club in memory of Ken._ 

_In closing I would like extend my continued thanks all members of such a fantastic lifeguard club and look forward to the continued ongoing success in 2026_ ”.
