## **Annual report and accounts for the year to 30th June 2024** 

The trustees present their report for the year ended 30th June 2023. 

## **Objects and activities** 

The charity is established for the relief of the poor and the needy, whether persons or institutions, or for such other charitable purposes which the trust may from time to time determine. 

## This is achieved by (but not exclusively):- 

The organisation of social and recreational activities; raising of monies and donating that which is received to individuals and groups; the purchase of equipment. 

## **Trustees** 

The trustees of the fund were the following Blythe Bridge Rotary Club members:-

## **Trust management and organisation** 

The general management, day to day running and policy determination of the trust is carried out by a Council of appointed Blythe Bridge Rotary Club members.  In addition to the trustees Blythe Bridge Rotary Club members are elected to the Council each year at the club's annual general meeting.  The Council meet regularly. The decisions of the Council are ratified in business meetings of Blythe Bridge Rotary Club which are held on a regular basis.  The Blythe Bridge members who served on the club's Council during the year were:-

The charity derives income from fund raising activities.  The charity does not employ any individuals or or incur any administrative costs.  All of the charity's income is applied to its overall aims and objectives. 

## **Review progress and achievement** 

The majority of our fund raising took place at Chrismas from our Santa street collections and at our local supermarket. During the year the trustees made donations where possible to local and international requests for help and assistance. 

## **Legacy** 

During the previous year John Sayer passed away on 12th April 2023.  He left the club a legacy of £20,000, on condition that it was for use in the local community absolutely.  This was received by the club in May 2024. 

## **Finances** 

The attached financial statements show the current state of finances, which the trustees consider to be sound and sufficient to meet financial obligations as and when they fall due.  The charity holds unrestricted funds of

## **Reserves policy** 

It is the policy of the charity to maintain unrestricted funds throughout the year, which are the free reserves of the charity, at a level which equates to approximately six to nine months unrestricted expenditure. 

## **Risk management** 

The trustees have examined the major strategic, business and operational risks which the charity faces and confirm that systems have been established to enable regular reports to be produced so that the necessary steps can be taken to lessen these risks. 

The charity's bankers are Barclays Bank plc, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire 

The independent examiner is Jan Jacobs, Accountant, Fulford, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire 

The charity is registered with the Charity Commission - no. 1041292.  The charity was formed by trust deed on 4th May 1994.

## **Independent Examiners report to the trustees of Rotary Club of Blythe Bridge and District Trust Fund for** 

I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 30th June 2024, which are set out on pages 1 to 4. 

## **Respective responsibilities of Trustees and examiner** 

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of accounts that comply with the requirements of section 42(1) of the Charities Act 1993 and for ensuring their examination is in accordance with the requirements of section 43(3).  They consider that the audit requirement of section43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the Act) does not apply.  They are responsible for ensuring that proper accounting records are kept for the charity in accordance with section 41 of the Act.  They are also responsible under charity law for safeguarding the assets of the charity and for ensuring their proper application and hence taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud, error, and other irregularities. 

It is my responsibility to state, on the basis of procedures specified in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners under section 43(7)(b) of the Act, whether particular matters have come to my attention. 

## **Basis of Independent Examiners Report** 

My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissions.  An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records.  It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning all matters.  The procedures undertaken do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts. 

## **Independent examiners statement** 

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention: 

(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements to keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the Act; and 

to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting 

have not been met; or 

(2) to which in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
