## **Trustees' Annual Report**
The Charities objects are to help young people, especially but not exclusively, through their leisure time activities, so as to develop their physical, mental and spiritual capabilities that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society. This is developed via detached work, group and individual work, project work with the youth worker delivering informal education. This approach has led to a very successful track record and enables the young people to be at the centre of the decision making process.
## **Activity during 2022/23**
During the last twelve months Longbenton Youth Project have successfully spent time raising money for worker and activity costs as the money from the sale of our building continues to be drawn upon and we need to find other sources of income.
Over the last year we have continued to see less young people out on the street and we believe this to be a continuing effect/ hang over of the covid crisis and definitely linked with young people feeling more isolated, vulnerable and with increasing mental health and wellbeing issues.
Overall we have had a number of joint ventures with Longbenton Community Centre bringing young people and older people from the estate together to aide understanding and respect between different groups leading to greater stability and harmony in our area. Our afternoon tea sessions supported by Ringtons Tea went down very well with old and young alike and we will look to continue these events in the future.

Charity Law requires the Trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which comply with the regulations set out in the Charities Act 1993.

## **Report to the trustees of Longbenton Youth Project**
**On accounts for the year ended**
## **31 March 2023 Charity no 1041060**
**Respective** The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year **responsibilities of** (under section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the Act)) and that an **trustees and** independent examination is needed. **examiner** It is my responsibility to examine the accounts (under section 43 of the Act), follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 43(7)(b) of the Act), and state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
**Basis of** My examination was carried out in accordance with General Directions **independent** given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review **examiner’s** of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the **statement** accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.
- **Independent** In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention: **examiner's** 1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material **statement** respect, the trustees have not met the requirements to ensure that: proper accounting records are kept (in accordance with section 41 of the Act); and accounts are prepared which agree with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Act; or
2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

## **1. Basis of accounts**
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015) – Charities SORP (FRS 102), the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) and the Companies Act 2006
