ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
Charitable activities
The financial year has seen a significant increase in money raised for the school – over £33,000.
Some smaller events may not turn a profit but we feel they’re just as important for the community aspect and the enjoyment of the children. We’ve shown money raised so it can be seen how popular they were despite needing to spend money on them. For example, we had some extremely successful gardening days. These didn’t raise any money, in fact money was spent on materials and refreshments for those who attended. But the results were priceless. Trees planted, raised beds constructed and filled, new logged areas created on the field and a huge amount of weeding and general clearing was done all over the school.
We’ve raised money over many different events – including a few smaller fundraising methods like Bag2School clothing collections, Christmas Cards which the children designed, Coronation teatowels, again designed by the children, Pre loved uniform sales – all raised around £2-300. Plus the extras like West Berkshire lottery, cash back sites like easy fundraising, and affiliate links for name labels for example.
Then we had some of the smaller regular events like Mother’s & Father’s Day & Christmas gift shops, Quiz night & treat stalls after school & at Sports day – all raising £500+ each. The quiz & children’s
disco each raised around £700. Then we had a couple of sponsored events for the children in school time – Elf-lympics in winter and Colour run in summer – these were absolutely loved by both children and staff and raised around £2k combined through sponsorship.
Then onto the 2 biggest events – Christmas and summer events. Despite wanting to make a slightly smaller event last Christmas, we all got a bit carried away and I don’t think I’ve ever seen the school so full! We were bursting at the seams and raised well over £4k. The summer even made a fantastic £5k too, despite it being an ridiculously hot day we still had a brilliant turn out.
By far the biggest impact on our fundraising was employer match funding. Almost half of the money raised came from match funding – which is a real bonus to the school where budget cuts are seemingly the norm going forward.
