Structure, Governance and Management

The Charity operates under the rules of its constitution adopted 7 May 1991.

The committee are elected from parents using the pre-school.

Objectives and Activities

The charity’s objectives are to advance the education of children below compulsory school age. To meet these objectives the charity operates a pre-school at the Christchurch on Boundary Road, Newark. During the year it was open 5 mornings a week and 3 afternoons. Children of all backgrounds are given the same opportunities to play, learn, make new friends in a safe, educational environment, learning to play together as well as independently.

We take the children on regular outings to our local library for singing sessions, we also visit local parks and interact with other activities within our community.

The majority of the children who attend playgroup receive the two year government funding as they come from low income families. The children are given opportunities to learn and gain experiences here that they may not receive at home.

Achievements and Performance.

We have been proud to offer our children a wide range of enriching experiences, all provided free of charge with no additional consumable costs, unlike many other settings. This included daily snacks, trips to the cinema café, a seaside-themed day at playgroup with fish and chips, ice cream, and paddling pools, as well as visits to local parks and the fire station. The children also enjoyed weekly yoga sessions. We believe strongly in giving children from disadvantaged backgrounds the best possible start in life, and these opportunities reflect that commitment. .
