Candoco Dance Company is a charitable ￿rnpanY limiled by guarantee and does not have $hare eapilal.11 is registered
with Companies Houso and the Charity Commission lor England and Wales. In the event of the charity being wound up.
the liability In respe¢t of the guaranlee is limited to £10 per member of the ¢harity, which in this instance are thè Trustees.
The charity was established on 14 April 1993 and is govemed by ils Memorandum and Articles of Association dated 19
July 1993, as amended by the certificate of incorporation on ¢hange of name dated 3 June 2013 and further amended on
15 August 2018. The company was fonnally managed during Ihis period by a Trusteeship of up lo 12 individuals (including
the Acting Chair of the Trustees). supported by the Company Secretary and Treasurer, and our new Chair (Sharon
Wa180nl, who joined the board on 121h March 2025.

During 2024-25, the Charity underwent signifi¢anl board renewal. including the appointment of a new Chair of the Board.
New trustees were recruited through targeted approaches, identifying skills and ￿preSentatIOn gaps, with pa￿Cular
focus on the lived ex￿rienCe ol disability and relevant professional expertise. All new Irusle8s receive a comprehensive

Featuring disabled and non4isabled arlists in profes5i0nal dance productions, challenging perceptions and
adv8ncing represenlalion. This year, w& ¢ommissloned Dan Daw Creallve Projects to collabor8t8 with us on
a nèw piece for five disabled and non-disabled dancers under the Co-Artistic Direction of Raquel Meseguer
Zafe and Dominic Milchell.

opportunities for 15 artists and Students as part of our creallon process. and further developlng the Cando¢o
Dance Artist scheme, which offers tralning and employment to a cohort ol disabled and non4lisabled leaching

Creating spaces for artists lo develop their pra¢tsce with peer support. This year, we ulilised our hI￿d sludio
space during quiet days by offering 75 hours of o￿n Pra¢li¢e and Company dass sessions, athieving 50
attendan¢e$ by freelance arti$l$.
Advancing Rosoarch and Advo¢a¢y
Partnering with Higher Education institutions to pioneer Innovative le¢hnolo9ies and methodologies that
expand possibilities for di5abl8d artists and advance indusive creative prdclice. During this year, we partnered
with artist researchers at Goldsmiths University to explore motion capture technology through a disability lens,
securing grant lunding and providing critical support lo advance accessible digllal dance praclic8S.
Contributing to the development of more inclusive cultural archives and documentation practices that prèseNe
and celebrate the contributions of disabled and marginalised artists. In 2024-25, we supported Lauren
McKillop's 'Cripping the Ar¢hive$' research examining gaps In dance archives. enabling field research within
our rehearsal spaces lo develop more inclusive archlving practice$ for queer and disabled artists. This also
included a 'Poslcards from the Sludio. blog authored by our Co Artistic Diredors to share pra¢ti¢e sedor-wide,
an excerpt published in One Dance UK magazine in Spring 2025.

LGBTQIA+ (40•10), signtficanlly exceeding typical se¢lor representation. These flgures hlghli9ht both the compelltive
landscape for dance artists and Ihe appetite for inclusive opporlunities. Our commitment lo accessible recruitmenl wa5
evidenl through the av8il8bility ol application materials in written lexl, audio, Easy Read, and BSL versions, as well as the
acceptance of applications via voice note. video. or written slalemenl. Additionally, we offered a Ihree-day audition format.
including online options lor intemational applicants. Resting spaces and regular b￿ak$ were provided throughoul, with a
BSL inlerpreled infomiation session re¢orded and made available online.
The ¢reation of Over and Over land over again) marked Candoco's transition from a full-lime lo a project-based company
model, achieved through collaboration with Dan Daw Creative Projgcl¥. Thi¥ move extended beyond traditional
choreographer commissions lo a partnership encompassing all production aspects. The partnership foregrounds 'crip
practice, over our traditional aesthetic and priorits'ses dan¢ers' access n&eds while enabling knowledge exchange around
resl-¢entred approaches. stren9lhening both organisations. creative capabilities. Dancers were engaged across over 20
weeks of paid work through R&D and a Iwo-stage creation process.

Candoco participated in the Inclusion in Dance Working Group research project, examining barriefs to progression for
disabled artists, titled 'Beyond 8arrier$ in Dan¢e'. Thi$ was a collaborative initiative examining barriers lo piogression and
employment for Dldeaf. disabled, n&urodivergenl, blind and visually impaired. learning41sabled, and chronlGally 111
Individuals within the dance sector. Alongside Corali, People Dancing, Stopgap Dance Company and TIN Arts. we formed
The Working Group lo commission this Arts Council England-funded research, delivered by disabled-led researchers Dr
Imogen Aujla, Dr Louisa Pett$ and Dr Kate Marsh.
The research revealed systemic challenges. including hi8rarchies of disability. geographlcal barrlern lo opp)rtunlty, and
significant health, financial and emotional costs experienced by disabled dan￿ professionals. Due to be published in June
2025 wlth comprehensive accessibility features including audio description and BSL Inlerprelallon. the findings are likely
lo provid8 crucial evidence to support seclor-wide ch8nge. As stated by The Working Group, this research repTrsenls our
shared commitment to 'challenge ourselves and others to increase and sustain the presen¢e and representation of
Disabled people in the dance worklor¢e and its leadership". dlrectly supporting Candoco's charitable oblectlves of
advancing inclusive practice and removing systemic barriers for disablad artists.

Followlng the stepping down of our Co-Artlsli¢ Directors in June 2025, the board took action to implement a Slralegic
Reset over tho summer of 2025. This exercise will be a comprehensive 10-week Iransformation Pro￿$$ led by oonsuliant
Bonlle Senne, designed lo realign Candoco with ils foundin9 values while clarifying our role In the current soclo-polilical
and artistic landscape. The process involves over 10 workshops and strategic sprints engaging board members. staff, and
key stakeholders in collaborative decision-making that centres disabled voices and lived experience. Running alongside4
will be an Inquiry Into the success land challenge5) of past similar'resets. in addltion to a piece of woth, led by independent
consultant Michelle Camey of Purpose Oriven Impact, designed to check in wth slgnificanl policymake￿ and sector

therefore it meels the definilion of a charilable company for UK corporalion tax purposes. Accordingly, the charity
is potentially exempt from taxation in respect of income or ¢apilal gains received within cale9ones covered by
Chapter 3 Part11 Corporation Tax Act 2010 or Section 256 of the Taxation of Chargeable Gains Act 1992, to Ihe
extent that such income or gains are applied exclusively to charitable purposes.

entitled to the income after any perfomiance conditions have been met. Ihe amount can be measured reliably and

again), the Company's 2024 work, devised by Dan Daw Creative Projects.
The Garfield Weston Foundation grant supports the company in re-slabilisin9 throughout the cost￿f-11vln9 Crisis
while developing exciting work which affirms Candoco's reputation as a glob81 leader in inclusive dance
The Paul Hamlyn Foundatlon grant is to support the sustenance of dlsabled arusts. trustees and directots and to
support developing 8 culture of care within Candoco which is grounded in disability justice.
The Company gratefully recelved a grant of £10,000 from SouthwaTk Borough Council lo support 8¢tivlty wilhln
andoco's local community of Peckham wih a Day of Dance, offering free engagement opportunities to participate
in workshops, enjoy outdoor ptrfomiances and creale work.
The Trust for London, Disability Juslice Fund grant supports the salary costs for a Head of A¢ces$ and Equity, as
well as resources for disabled leaders, collaborative workiDg inl8rrogalion plus overhead costs.
