# **Annual Report 2024/25**

## **Message from the Chair**

It has been another exceptionalyear within Young Lincolnshire, LCVYS and the Youth and Community sector in general. With lots of training events across the region and trips out with young people and our fantastic volunteers. This has included our annual summer trip and attendance at the World Youth Clubs Conference in Durham, where young people, clubs, and volunteers from across the sector are rewarded and acknowledged for all the exceptional work that they do to make sure young people have the best experience in youth clubs; locally, nationally, and globally.

As I undertake a second year as Chair at LCVYS it is an honour and privilege, however we must not lose sight of the j incredible work, commitment and time given by our previous Chair, who was awarded a ‘Lifetime achievement Award’ for his work with young people and the voluntary youth sector. This additional recognition to the work that LCVYS and Young Lincolnshire would be as successful as they are today. The Trustees and I are working closely together to ensure we continue to move forward in this positive way and offer much more to our young people and the community. We have been working hard on many projects that will embrace the challenges that the sector faces day to day and very much look forward to another successful year, with many new projects and opportunities planned, going forward.

My personal thanks to the LCVYS Board for supporting us all again this year, it takes many hours of time to do this in a voluntary manner, and I very much look forward to another year in the role in rising to the challenge and Z continuing our organisations legacy, whilst also taking everyone on this journey with me and we have lots more to come over the next few years.

## **LCVYS Development Officer Report**

f“ It is the time of year again when we reflection the work we have done. LCVYS prides ourselveson the development of our )\) { work to better support children, young people, volunteers and staff. In a county like Lincolnshire this has many challenges ell =, as we work with many obstacles and barriers. This is an upmost priority and challenge for us which is why we need our ‘ay grass root members to have ‘The voice of the voluntary sector’. Over the last year we have focused on evolving our ' \ \ strategy to better reflect our core mission, vision and values to reflect this. Working within our constitution and business om plan we have focused on prevention, training and progression opportunities for all involved within LCVYS. This has come | through our Wellbeing Strategy, our comprehensive Youth work training , 1:1 support, links to Regional and National ; \ Opportunities, Conferences and Positive activities for young people. We are seeing an increase in sessions being delivered, centres opened and a unique ways of delivering youth work across the county. This ultimately means that there \\ is a continued support to young people and we as LCVYS and our membership are committedto enabling young people to achieve a better future for themselves, inspiring them to achieve their full potential. In the cycle of our work, we see many changes over the years. LCVYS was established over 50 years ago due to the grass root organisations wanting ait | \)" collaboration, support, networking and shared common grounds to develop their own communities and young people. \ } | Ae This is fundamentally our soul purpose and aim within the work we do. We have lots of exciting opportunities coming up in the year and are pleased to announce the extra funding we have received to support ‘YOUR’ work and how we can improve the Voluntary Youth Sector in the next year. Our expanded team mean that we are able tobe more frontline \ J\ fi, across the depths of the County and are a listening ear to what each unique area needs as part of their delivery. A big thankyou from myself for working with us, sharing your stories and successes and we hope to bring you more fantastic opportunities in the upcoming year.

## **Dr Charles Shaw**

Change is a constant in society drivenbymansinsatiabledesire notjusttobe, competitiveness and all the human traits that are for good and ill. It is a massive job for parents and community and youth organisations to channel their energies into helping young people become happy, healthy and positive members of society whilst imbuing a sense of fairness. LCVYS responsibility is to help its member organisations achieve this day in day out and to speak up when necessaryon their behalf. The role of the Finance and General Purposes committee is to do the pre-work so that Staff and empowered Volunteers can make the appropriate operational and structural decisions to forward this objective and support the Chair and Trustees in their vision for the organisation and youth services in Lincolnshire. Over the past year we have been aiming to do just this as LCVYS moves into facing the challenges of impending probable local government re-organisation and ideas structures and funding opportunities put forward by government and others. We are fortunate to have positive staff and the advantages of working together in our Young Lincolnshire Consortium to deliver on a very tight budget above our weight –yet there is much to be done, and we welcomed our new part-time staff to assist In this. Moving forward our human resources needs development and support and as I am sure the Chair will have mentioned we need to strengthen our ability as a Voice for Community and Voluntary Youth Services so we can challenge any threats to the future and grass roots provision.

## **Vice Chair Report**

Between June 2024 and April 2025, The Centre for Reconciliation (TCfR) and Lincolnshire Council for Voluntary Youth Services (LCVYS) worked in close partnership to deliver a wide range of activities across Greater Lincolnshire. Together, we focused on supporting young people, particularly those from ethnically diverse, faithbased, and disadvantaged backgrounds, while strengthening relationships with local communities and cultural groups.

Key achievements include providing hygiene support to families in need, expanding cultural and faith-based outreach with mosques, cultural centresand community associations, and promoting access to youth training and funding opportunities. We also created inclusive experiences through youth trips, volunteer placements, and skillbuilding courses such as First Aid and Introduction to Youth Work. This year’s work highlights the impact of a grassroots, collaborative approach: meeting immediate needs, building confidence in young people, and widening opportunities for participation and leadership. Over the past year, TCfR and LCVYS have demonstrated a dynamic and inclusive approach to youth empowerment, cultural outreach, and practical support. From hygiene aid to leadership training, from mosques to cultural centers, and from seaside trips to skill-building opportunities, our partnership continues to ensure that Lincolnshire’s youth, particularly those from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds, are supported, included, and given opportunities to thrive.
