WELWYN HATFIELD FESTIVAL OF DANCE

TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL REPORT 2024

The Festival continued to make a good recovery following the reduced activity due to the Covid pandemic. 2024 was an All England Dance qualifying year and, consequently, there was a high number of entries. The festival ran for 4 weekends to accommodate this.

There was some question of whether the Gordon Craig theatre would be back ‘in working order’ after the flood issue but the repairs had been made in time.

Our financial situation is robust and there is enough contingency fund to cover any problem we have with venues in future.

The theatre management have indicated that the costs will increase next year and it remains to be decided whether to increase the entry or admission fees.

The festival has a waiting list of schools wishing to enter and it is hoped to make some provision for them next year.

The Treasurer attended the British and International Federation of Festivals conference in October and reported back to the board.
