SELNEC EDUCATIONAL TRUST

ANNUAL REPORT 2021

We ended 2020 with a hope that relaxation of restrictions in 2021 would allow us to progress. We have managed to slim down our vehicle holding by disposing of vehicles at East Manchester to other groups or for scrap after removal of parts needed for other vehicles. This has reduced our holding, but has not made as significant a saving in cost due to higher vehicle charges. We have had to manage a number of issues related to the Leigh premises such as the costs associated with safe access and a long drawn out dispute regarding water charges, where we did, after a legal battle, recover some funds from United Utilities.

Our Cheshire storage facilities are now full and do provide better accommodation, but due to travel, less opportunities to work on vehicles. We continue to look for opportunities to have work facilities in the Manchester area.

2130 has been completed as a project funded by PW Consultancy and given the additional costs and the COVID related restrictions on events, the trustees agreed longer loan period to PWC to allow them to benefit from the restoration work they have funded. It is hoped that further agreements of this nature will follow with vehicle sponsors. 2130 remains in the ownership of SET.

A new trustee has been appointed and his details uploaded to the Charity Commission Website. We welcome Lea Worrall as a new trustee.
