TREASURER’S REPORT 2024-2025. AGM 9th October 2025
Review of the year’s activities.
1.Banking
No major issues.
The bank continued to charge £5 per month for the current account, as well as charges for various other services. This banking charge is about to be dropped, by the bank itself. We mainly use online banking and David Flunder remains back up to me in that process. Although cheques are rarely written, I have updated the signatories with the bank. This current signatories are myself, Sue Burns and David Flunder.
2. Membership fees
Fees were at £80 per person, for the autumn and spring terms, decreasing to £60 for the summer term.
3. Gift Aid
I claimed £3300 of Gift Aid money this year.
4.Charity Commission
I submitted the annual report to the Charity Commission and updated the Trustees’ list as appropriate.
5. Insurance company
No issues with Making Music. Accounts show we paid for a year’s subscription in this financial year.
6. Accounts
I have had this year’s accounts audited by the same accountant we used last year. The accounts are fairly self-explanatory in the format that he has presented them to you.
Things worthy of note are as follows:
1.Performances profit/loss
St Thomas’s concert £495 Summer concert profit= £115 MF Donington concert donation £125
2. Donations/Fundraising
Belinda’s Fund
In April 2025, £20,000 donation. Invested in bonds at UTB bank (charitable bond). £10,000 of this was eligible for gift aid. This was also invested in a bond at UTB bank.
In addition, we received donations of £200 from Boston Masonic Lodge, thanks to Cilla. We also received £250 from Staples vegetables, thanks to Anthony.
3. Income and expenses
Income profit ( cf expenses) £26079.02 ( £94.59 loss last year).
Current account balance 1st September 2025 = £ 2831. (income £5810 expenses £4394)
Deposit Account is £1612
7. Future projections
The financial position has obviously improved, given the increased numbers Member numbers increased fees and large donation. We need several years of this to continue for our position to be financially secure. Our profits this year are chiefly related to donations as expenses obviously go up Currently, our monthly outgoings based on rehearsals alone are between £530 and £600, dependant on number of rehearsals per month.
I am happy for the membership fees to remain at £60 per term for the time being. I will obviously try to minimise this if I possibly can, but this is dependent on membership numbers and plans for the development of the choir. We are already approaching things differently this year in terms of publicity and music purchase which the choir needs for a solid way forward. Obviously it is very difficult to predict financial security in the long term. Hence, any source of income is gratefully received.
We also now need thoughts about Belinda’s fund and how we are to use it.
