## **YOUTH CREATE Charity Number: 1040008 Chairman’s Report For the period 1 September 2024 to 31 August 2025**

I am pleased to present the Chairman’s Report for Youth CREATE for the period 1 September 2024 to 31 August 2025. Over the course of the year, the charity has continued to operate in line with its objectives, providing accessible, inclusive, and high-quality performing arts opportunities to children and young people within the local community.

This has been another full and successful year for Youth CREATE, with consistent delivery of weekly classes, rehearsals, productions, and community-focused events. The charity continues to provide a structured and creative environment in which children and young people can develop artistic skills while also building confidence, resilience, communication skills, and teamwork.

A key strength of the organisation remains the quality and ambition of its performance programme. During the year, two productions were staged: In December there was the “YC Christmas Party”, held at Latton Bush Centre followed 6 months later by “Yellow Brick Road and WOLF! The Musical Show” in May 2025 at Bishop Stortford College. Both productions demonstrated a high level of commitment from participants and sta and were extremely well received by audiences. These events are the culmination of many months of rehearsal and preparation and represent a significant achievement for all involved, they play a valuable role in strengthening community spirit within the organisation and ensuring that every member, regardless of experience or ability, has the opportunity to take part in a shared performance.

In addition, Youth CREATE’s participation in the Jack Petchey Glee Club Challenge was particularly notable, with the organisation reaching the regional finalist stage. This achievement reflects the standard of performance work being produced and the dedication of both members and sta in preparing for external opportunities and challenges.

Membership has remained strong and stable throughout the year, with approximately 158 participants recorded across all classes as of September 2024. The trustees are pleased to note continued engagement across all age groups, alongside a steady intake of new members. This demonstrates ongoing demand for accessible performing arts provision within the local area and reinforces the importance of maintaining aordable access to activities.

sales, fundraising events, and donations. The trustees continue to monitor financial performance closely to ensure long-term sustainability, prudent management of resources, and maintenance of appropriate reserves.

Despite continued economic pressures aecting households and organisations, Youth CREATE has maintained resilience and stability throughout the year. The trustees are satisfied that the charity remains well positioned to continue delivering its services eectively while adapting to future challenges and opportunities.

Community engagement remains central to the charity’s ethos. The annual “Welcome Back” Picnic continues to be a highly valued event, bringing together members, families, and volunteers at the start of the academic year. It provides both a social and fundraising opportunity, while also reinforcing the sense of belonging that is central to Youth CREATE’s identity. Similarly, participation in the Sawbridgeworth Christmas Lights Switch-On ensures continued visibility and engagement within the wider community.

The trustees are also pleased with continued progress in the development of the charity’s digital infrastructure. The use of online systems for bookings, ticketing, and uniform sales has improved accessibility for families and streamlined administrative processes. Increased engagement through social media platforms has also supported communication, event promotion, and community outreach. The trustees recognise the importance of continuing to invest in these systems to ensure the charity remains eicient and accessible.

The success of Youth CREATE is dependent on the dedication of its sta, volunteers, and creative leaders. Their commitment in delivering high-quality weekly sessions, supporting rehearsals, and managing productions is fundamental to the charity’s operation. The trustees would like to formally acknowledge and thank them for their continued professionalism and enthusiasm.

The role of parents, carers, donors, and sponsors is equally essential. Their ongoing support enables children and young people to participate in the charity’s activities regardless of background or financial circumstance. The trustees are extremely grateful for all financial contributions received during the year, which are carefully managed and recorded in the annual accounts.

During the year, we said farewell to Nicola McCormack, who stepped down as trustee. The Board wishes to formally record its sincere appreciation for her commitment, time, and valuable contribution to the governance and development of the charity and extends best wishes for the future.

The current trustees are:

Carl Draper

Vicky Draper

Hugh Linden

Andrea Stamadiades

Katie Wood

Looking ahead, preparations are now underway for the charity’s 40th anniversary. This milestone represents an important opportunity to celebrate the organisation’s history, recognise the contributions of all who have supported it over the years, and reairm its ongoing commitment to providing inclusive performing arts opportunities for young people.

During the year, we were delighted to welcome a new addition to the Youth CREATE family. Penny, daughter of Connor and Kelly, was born in June 2025. We extend our warmest congratulations to the family on her safe arrival.

In closing, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all members, sta, volunteers, trustees, parents, carers, donors, and supporters. The continued success of Youth CREATE is the result of their combined eorts, and their commitment ensures that the charity remains a valued and sustainable part of the local community.
