Objects of the Charity and Prlnclpal Artivities
Newham Chlnese Association provides a range of services to the Chinese community in the London Borough
of Newham. Its principal activities include elderly luncheon club, and interest classes, library service,
community projects and festive and birthdays celebrations.
This year apart from Salsa dancing, Tai Chi, Tai Chi Sword and Chair base exercises were converted to fitness
dance in Chlnese style, and there is a brand new creativity & Leisure group on every Wednesday. This activitv
aims to remind them of their Chinese heritage and to improve their physical well being.
Development artivities and achlevement during the year
The Newham Chinese Association operates from St Mark's Church Hall 218 Tolgate Road Beckton E6 SYA
The Association provides Chinese elderly access to preventive health care, social services, information
circulation and leisure opportunities in Newham. Other assistance for the members includes health talks,
birthday parties, exchange visits, trips and tours, as well as festive celebrations.
Our Luncheon Club continue to provide meals prepared by outside contractor because St Marks Church Hall
does not have access to kitchen facilities but the club continue to be well supported
Newham Chinese Association strives for equality for all. Disabled people, lone parents, the unemployed and
the socially deprived are given a place where they can come together and share opportunities. Experience and

Dirertorf responsibilities in relation to the financial Statements..
Company law requi￿$ the director5 to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true
and fair view of the state of affrdirs of the charity at the end of the financial year and of its incoming resources
and application of resources, including income and expenditure for the financial year. In doing so the
directors are required to:
a. Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently.
b. Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent.
c. Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless It is inappropriate to presume
that the charity will continue in business.
d. The directors are responsible for maintaining proper accounting records which disclose with
reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure
that the financial statements comply with the Companies Act 1985.
e. The directors are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking
reasonable steps for the prevention and detettion of fraud and other irregularities.
f. In accordance with company law, as the company's directors, we certify that:
g. So far as we are aware, there Is no relevant audit information of which the examiners of our
accounts are unaware.

Report of the Independent examiner to the trustees of Newham Chinese Association a charitable
company limited by guarantee.
Re Financial statements for the year ended 31st March 2024
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The directors are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. They consider that an audit is not
required for this year under section 14412) of the Charities Act 2011 and that an independent
examination is needed.
Having satisfied myself that the charity is not subject to audit under company law and is eligible for
independent examination, it 15 my responsibility to-
examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
to follow the procedures laid down in the generaLDirections given by the Charity
Commission under section 145{51(b) of the 2011 Act; and
to state whether particular matters have come to my attentlon.
Basis of independent examiner's report
My examination was carried out in accordan￿ with the general directions given by the Charity
Commission. An examination includes a review of the accountlng records kept by the charity and
comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any
unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as triistees
concerning any such matters. These procedures do not seek to express an audit opinion on the
accounts
Independent examlnerfs statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
(l) whlch gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any materlal respect the requirements:
to keep accounting records in accordance with sectlon 386 of the Companies Act 2CK)6' and
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records, comply with the accounting
requirements of section 396 of the Companies Act 2006 and with the methods and
principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by
Charities
have not been met; or to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable
a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

l Accounting Policies
Accounting Basis
a The Financial statements are prepared under the historic cost basis in accordance with applicable accounting
standards and in compliance with Statements of Recommended Prarttce Number 2 { accounting by charties.)
b The Charity's main source of income is from grants and donations.some income is also derived from activities
such as Salsa, Line dance & Keep Fit Classes, Karaoke and Mahjong events.
c Grants recelved for specific purposes are accounted for as restricted funds and are applied in accordance
with the terms of the grant. This definition includes specific small grants for specific work and activity
The charity now consider all other funds receivable as funds for the general application and development of
all the activities of the charity
d Income and expenditure relating to the activities have been taken into account on an accruals basis.
e Depreciation charge is based on 25% of Cost of assets acquired.
