|Summary ofthe main<br>achievements<br>ofthe charity<br>during the year||In the year under review District led activities gat back into full swing.<br>The<br>Beavers camped at Birchmere and held their firs film night at 1"Cherlsey's<br>HQ.<br>The Cubs also camped at Birchmere and 159Cube took part in the District Big<br>Splash at Woking's Pool in the Park.<br>As well as attending<br>Scoutabout,<br>the|
|||Scouts camped at Boidier Hurst, Polyapes and Walton Fire.|
|||Our three Explorer Scout Uncs also had full programmes,<br>with Endeavour|
|||visibng one ofRunnymede's<br>twin tawns, Bergisch Gladbach<br>in Germany<br>and|
|||hasting a return visit by Scouts from that town. The units camped at Femy|
|||Crafis in Hampshire;<br>seemingly<br>representing<br>the south of England at the Apex|
|||Challenge<br>in Yorkshire and biking part in the Monopoly<br>Run<br>in London.<br>In|
|||addition there were various<br>DofEexpeditions,<br>leading to the award ofa|
|||Diamond<br>Chief Scout Award, two Explorer Belts, a Young Leader Belt, seven|
|||D ofEBronze Awards and<br>seven DofE Silver Awards.|
|||The water activiTies Active Support<br>Unit continued to hold intensive canoe|
|||courses for Scouts and Explorers drawn from Runnymede<br>and Walung<br>Districts,|
|||as well as providing<br>taster sessions for 546 Beaveis, Cubs, Scouts and|
|||Explorers.<br>Our thanks gota the Addlestone<br>Canoe Club for hosting these|
|||aclivltles.|
|||The Archery Team attended<br>the National Scout Archeiy Competibon<br>at Phasels|
|||Wood and returned<br>with medals, as they traditionally<br>da.|
|||Following<br>lockdown the Distrirt site at Bourne Copse required<br>much work to<br>make it usable again.<br>Our thanks go to the 1"Cherlsey team for making the site|
|||accessible and to Steve Valiant and Vtfill Fairminer for their professional<br>work an|
|||the trees.|
|||Adult leader training has again been ta 1hefare during the year. As welf as the|
|||usual mandatory<br>training,<br>including<br>fimt response courses, the Disblct has|
|||supparted<br>through<br>our Michael Patrick Fund attendance<br>at courses<br>in archery,|
|||canoeing and minibus<br>driving.<br>A number ofhaders are also taking part in|
|||training for pioneering<br>and tomahawk<br>throwing.|
|||There have been changes to the District Team. Sarah Stevens has been|
|||appointed<br>Distnct Youth Commissioner<br>and we wish her well in this role.<br>Kevin|
|||Coombs has succeeded<br>Shaun Schofield as ADC Beavers end we thank Shaun|
|||for sll he did in the post<br>MalCalm<br>IV!cGhan has slOOd down aS Network|
|||Commissioner<br>but continues asa Daf Eassessor.|
|||Sonia Marahant<br>retired as one ofour Badge Secreisdes and we thank her for|
|||her years ofservice. We are also grateful ta David Howell for agreeing to cover|
|||the whole Districz<br>Andy Sainsbury-Brown<br>continues to run the Oisbict shop to|
|||great effect and we thank<br>him for this invaluable<br>service.|
|||The annual census showed<br>an increase<br>in youth membership<br>af2%on the|
|||previous year.<br>Notably Exp!orer numbers<br>topped 100forthe first time, including|
|||39Young Leaders.|
|||Four young people will represent<br>Runnymede<br>at the 25<br>Warld Scout Jamboree|
|||in Korea this summer,<br>with five adults<br>in the International<br>Service Team<br>Two|
|||groups wil! be joining the County expedition to Kandersteg<br>(KIX23)also fhis|
|||summer.|
