The Company is a Charitable Trust which is limited by Guarantee and does not have a Share Capital.
Each Member of the Trust guarantees an amount not exceeding £1 in the event of the winding up of
the Trust.

The Trust has no paid employees and relies on the time and efforts of Its volunteer5.
We are pleased to report that we have had a steady year. Our regular collections at Our Lady of the
Wayside have continued at a similar level to 2023. Also, we were grateful to the families of Pat Mullen,
Rupert Bentley and Mr Jennings for allowing collections to be made for the Trust In memory of the
deceased on the occasions of thelr funerals.
The net rental income from the London property has increased this year, as maintenance costs have
been reduced after significant repairs and renovations {including central heating) were carried out two
years ago.
The grants which we make to projects are through Charities which are based in the UX and registered
with the Charities Commission. We have supported 27 projects throughout the world, as detailed
below.
St Marfs Educational & Charitsble Trust {Charity Numbef 1113945} Charity set up by Fr Dominlc
Chukka, which has been supported by I￿r Lady of the Wayside for several years. This year. help
provided to support the next stage of the building of a medical care centre at the School Campus which
will cover 24 nearby villages. Many health problems during & followin8 pandemic including people
dying after suffering powerful snake bites as nearest urban hospital 1$ 30miles away. Rural health care
is one of the biggest challenges in India. 70% of population live in rural areas with low level of health
facilities and high mortality rate due to disease.
Mary's Meals {Charity Number SC0221401 By providing a daily meal at school, Mar¢s Meals creates
fundamental change in the lives of children who don't have enough to eat, providing hope for the
future. A child can be fed for a whole school year for £19.15. Operates in many countries In Africa.
Jacob's Well (Charity Number 11923731 In the border town of Banfora, Bukina Faso. The Sunrise
centre supports young people with disabllities, providing education, support, food and transport to 40
children. A second project is bringing education to children who are Currently not attending school but
sent to scavenge from the town rubbish dump
Afrlcan Mlsslon (Charlty Number 1099264) In support of Dr Ray Towey at Fatima Mission in ZlmbJbwe.
A residential project for those with special needs. The number of young people benefitting from the

project has increased from 6 to 23 since 2011. AM pays for the school fees and living costs of all 23
children at £ £4,6￿ per term13 terms a year).
Pump Ald (Charity No 1077889), which facilitates the sinking of wells in places like Malawi which
means that small, isolated communities can benefit from improved food security, better hygiene and
reduced distance over whlch families must walk to collert water
Concern Worldwide Icharity No 1092236) to assist in a project: Green Graduation - Supporting the
urban poor (200 h/hs) in Bangladesh's capital city Dhaka to build sustainable pathways out of extreme
poverty.
Serendlp Chlldrens (Charity No 1133461) Helping destitute families in Sri Lanka who receive no aid
from any national or local government. by providing orphaned children with food, clothing and
equipment needed to continue education. A wide-ranging number of on-going prograrnmes and also
one-off projects such as Breakfast for kids. Provision for elders, and supp)rt for Women Headed
Families.
Azadl In Blrnilngham (Charlty No 11386631 Support for the Hope Garden Project in Sparkbrook to
cover bus fares of their group so that thLy can continue to attend the regular weekly garden and/or art
sessions. These sessions provide frlendship, space to talk and socialise and occasional outings to a
green space to improve mental health and deepen friendship bonds. The group comprises asylum
seekers, refugees and those with mental health issues. With people from as many as 15 different
ethnicitles and are open to those of all faiths and none.
Woman's Trust (Charity No 1143513) which works in the UK helping women recover from domestic
abuse by providin8 counselling, organises support groups and self-development semlnars or webinars.
Particularly women who are refu8ees regardless of immigration status and whether they have recourse
to public funds. Many need to 80 to food banks or apply to the CAB for vouchers. Help with access to
services- removal costs for those fleeing abuse etc
Sister Sylvia Sherwood who works amon8St the hill-top communities in Bollvla There have been many
infections and deaths due to the lack of space and oxygen in the hospitals. People are being left in
quarantine for two weeks without the means of support and unfortunately, some have taken
advants8e and the price of medicine has risen to twice the normal.
Raisin8 Futures (Charity No 1181670) through the-seed of Hope- vocational tralning and well-being
support prograrnme in Kenya which empowers young people (aged 14-25) to secure employment or
start their own businesses 8enerating income to support themselves and their families. Has record of
90% of 8raduates enterin8 employment.
Freedom from Torture (Charty No l(XK13401 Supporting those in the UK who have survived torture,
post- traumatic stress, physical health problems, risk of homelessne55 and destitution.
All We Can Reg Charlty 29 Icharity No 0291691) Supporting poor and mar8inalised women from Binga
District of the Zambezi Valley to earn a su5t3inable income through Ilala palm basket weaving
Brlzht Sparks {Charity No 1126402) Support for work in Malawi where due to HIV, thousands of children
left orphaned or impoverished. Almost all children start primary school (free) but only 14% complete
secondary school.
The Makhad Trust (Charity No iio)3771 Restoration of ancient Bedouin Orchards to relieve poverty in
the Mountains of South Sinal. Also runnin8 projects such as Seed Bank and Herb Growin8 school for
children whose father has passed away.

Freedom Klt Bags (Charity No 1173656) Providing hygienic, eco- friendly. Sustainable sanitary wear for
women. Each ba8 costs £25 and lasts for 3yrs. Made in Nepal, for Nepal, by Nepalese.
Distribution in 2017- 729 risin8 to 5347 in 2022 .
AMREF Health Africa (Charity No 0261488) Taking lifesavin8 health services to remote communities by
solar-powered mobile clinics.
Support & Love Via Education (Charity No 11267931 Supportin8 marginalised and mistreated street
children in Uganda who do not have access to food and shelter
East Afrlca Chlldrens (Charity No 1136340) Focus on the relief of poverty by empowerlng very deprived
children, including abandoned or orphaned. Support for a new project.. a 2-storey teaching block at Joy
School, Nairobl; providing locally 8rown meal each day," replacing stick & mud dormitories
Brlght Sight Mlssion (Charity No 1154486) BSM is an eye health charity which provides eye care
services to deprived communities of West Africa. Blindness and diminished vision make life incredibly
hard for families who are already strug81in8. B5M are hopin8 to build a clinic In one of the communities
over the next 3 years
AcSd Survfvors Trust (Charity No 11549611 A small team of three now partnering a previous surlivor of
an acid attack In Uzanda who has set up the Hope Care Rescue {HOCRAM), helping Six other survlvors
to gain the skills and training needed to learn to sew, as part of a Tailoring programme
MAD Ald (Charity No 1150955) Based on Isle of Wight this charity runs a medical aid delivery sepilce,
whereby it collects decommissioned medical equipment from UK hospitals and other healthcare places
and delivers to Eastern Europe, primarily Moldova where many children are housebound and socially
isolated becaLrse they do not have a wheelchaii or other aids
Malaika Kids UK (Charlty No 11181491 Dedicated to supporting and rescuin8 the most vulnerable
children from the streets of Dar es Salaam, givlng them a stable and caring upbringing. There is a
Reception home for new children received through the Ministry of Social Welfare, a relatives support
programrne and a chlldrens, village housing 80 children
Romanlan Challenge Appeal Icharity No 1011397) Working in Romanla, providing sheltered housing;
Day Centre for Adults with disabilities; teaching independent living skills such as personal hygiene,
living spaces and many more; Help wlth fuel costs.
Chlldren In Need India (Charity No SC029591I A project to reduce malnutrition amongst women and
children living in plantations. Those livin8 in these communities face disproportionately hi8h levels of
poverty, poor nutrition and mortality
CAFOD(Charity No 1160384) A further payment to support relief work following earthquake in Turkey
and Syrla in February 2023.
Tools lor Self-Reliance Icharity No 0280437) Began in 1980 as a UK charity collects and refurbishe5
tools providin8 people in the UK with the opportunity to work and delivers those tools to Ghana,
Malawi, Uganda, Slerra Leone, Zambia tO8ether with training Wlthin each country

Having satisfied myself th8t the ac(x)unts of the Company are not required to be audited for
Ihis year under Part 16 of the 2(￿ Act and are eligible for independent examination, I rèport
in respect of my examination of y￿r charity's aixounts as carried out under section 145 of
the Charities Act 2011 {Yhe 2011 Acf). In carying out my examin8b'on, I have followed the
Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b> of the 2011 Act.

l. Accounting Policies
al Basis of preparation of financial statements
These financial statements have been prepared under the historical c05t convention and followin8
the recommendations of the Statement Recommended Practice Number 2 {Accountin8 by
Charities). Except as noted below. these financial statements have been prepared on an accruals
basis and include income and expenditure as it is earned or incurred. rather than as cash received
or paid.
b) Fund Accounting
The charit¢s accumulated funds consist of funds which the charity may use for the purpose at its
discretion.
c) Voluntary Income
All voluntary income is included on receipt except where the donor requires the sum to be invested
in a specific manner. Grants receivable are credited to income irnmediately. Donations of cash are
included into income on receipt.
dl F+xed assets and depreciation
Tangible fixed assets are included in the financial statements at their historic cost. They are written
off over their estimated useful lives by depreciation throu8h the income and expenditure account
on the following basis

Investment properties are shown in the financial statements at the value at the tlme they were
bequeathed to the Trust. The Trustees have reviewed the current market value of the property. but
have not set up a revaluation reserve to reflect the surplus on the valuatlon, as there are no plans
to sell the property.
Investment income
Interest is credited to the income and expenditure account on a receivable basis. Rental income is
credited to the income and expenditure on an accrued basis.
8} Administrative expenditure
Administrative expenditure comprises all costs incurred in running the charity which cannot be
directly allocated to the charitrfs projects. As such. it includes legal and professional fees and
general administrative expenditure.
