Medserve Trustees Report 2022-23
2022/23 has been another good year for Medserve Wales having responded to over 400 call outs in the last 12 months. Geographically we continue to operate predominantly in the Cardiff to Swansea corridor, however there have been responses as far west as Newgale. This year has seen Medserve Wales responders attend a number of high profile incidents and the Trustees would like to say a huge well done and thank you to everyone involved for their hard work and professionalism.
Congratulations to the Medserve Wales team in recruiting two new paramedic team leaders and one new doctor team leader this year. This will enable an increase in capacity for the future.
As we move forward we bid a fond farewell to Simon Weston for his support as President, and would like to thank Richard Knill and Andy McCann for their work as Trustees. The decision as to whether we appoint a new President is under discussion, but we are lucky to welcome Carl Powell and Matt Church as new Trustees. We are looking forward to working with them.
A thank you to Dr Matt Creed for running the Medserve Wales accounts over the last year and to Sian Guest for running another wonderful black tie ball, £8,000 raised! Excitingly Matt Church has already organised two fundraising events, the Sahara trek and the rugby world cup charity quiz and we look forward to supporting both of them. With inflation remaining high and interest rates putting additional pressure on households, we continue to face a challenging time when trying to raise the necessary funds needed to keep the charity running. Everyone’s support at events is appreciated.
There have been a number of changes within the Trustees this year and as such over the coming year, we will commit to identifying how best we can support the valuable work that all responders are undertaking.
Dr Matt Creeds Treasury Report is an important document, and we accept his advice/recommendations that he has passed to the trustees.
Grant applications have been illusive over the last year and Sharon Champness who started making applications for us unfortunately fell ill
and is unable to continue her work. We will look to identify another individual who can support us with these applications.
Work continues on our constitution with the help of the WCVA.
Once again many thanks to all the volunteers within Medserve Wales and the wonderful work that you do. Your efforts help to change families lives on a daily basis, you should all be very proud of what you achieve. We the Trustees are grateful for the time that you commit and look forward to supporting you over the next 12 months as Medserve Wales grows from strength to strength.
