Rotary Club of Oxford Isis Trust Fund

Annual Report for the 12 months ended 30[th] June 2022.

## **Trustees**

Rotarians Roger Long (Chairman), David Hughes (Secretary), Robert Fitchett (Treasurer) and Malcolm Fearn were the Trustees throughout the year.

## **Structure, Governance and Management**

Registered with the Charity Commission, number1038992.

The governing document is the Deed of Trust dated 13 January 1994. The Trust is the charity arm of the Rotary Club of Oxford Isis (Club)

New trustees are elected on a vote of members of the Club.

## **Summary of Objectives**

The relief of the poor and needy or to or for such other charitable purpose, institution, society, or object as the Club shall direct.

## **Public Benefit**

Throughout the year, the Trustees have kept in mind the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit.

The lessening of Covid 19 restrictions by the start of the Rotary year meant that the Club was able to recommence most activities, cancelled in the previous year, to both raise funds for the Trust and engage with the community. The main events organised were the Cowley Classic Car Show, two Classic Car Drives, the Blenheim Run(s) and the Christmas Float Tour around Woodstock.

A public collection to support a local food bank and a charity proving meals for those in need was held in December.

Club Members were again generous in donating personally to the Trust.

Sadly, because of the remaining Covid restrictions, it was not possible to recommence “Kids Out”, the annual summer outing organised by local Rotary Clubs for disadvantaged children.

From the various activities undertaken, the Trust was able to provide grants for local, national, and international good causes.

All members of the Rotary Club of Oxford Isis are unpaid volunteers, and the charity could not function without their tremendous individual and collective efforts. The Trustees extend their heartfelt thanks to all our fellow club members for their wonderful commitment to improving the lives of others.

## **Achievements and Performance**

See the Accounts provided for details.

In the 12 months to 30[th] June 2022, total receipts were £33,631 from members’ donations, gift aid, collections, and community events. Costs paid out in year to undertake the fundraising activities totalled £6,564.

Net income in 2021/22 from all fundraising and other sources was £27,064, over twice the previous Covid depressed year’s figure of £13,315.

Grants made to support local, national, and international charities over 2021/22 totalled £24,494. A further £271 was spent on putting on with another Club “Youth Speaks”, which encourages public speaking by school students.

End of year report 2022

Grants made included £4,039 direct to the Rotary District of Ukraine to support the welfare work of Rotary in that embattled country. At the end of June 2022, the Trust received a grant itself of £2,000 from the worldwide Rotary organisation to support three projects to aid refugees from the Ukraine now in Oxfordshire, in which Club Rotarians are involved.

## **Reserves Policy**

The policy is that there should be sufficient reserves to cover:

- a) The charitable activities planned for the following year, such as Youth Speaks and Kids Out.

- b) The fixed costs of fund-raising events planned for the following year (should they be cancelled), and if such events do take place, to meet any shortfall should the income not be sufficient to cover the total expenditure of such events.

## **Restricted Funds**

Our Trust policy is that income should be paid over to the relevant beneficiaries as soon as it is administratively possible to do so.

## **Risk Management**

All activities undertaken by the Club are subject to the Club’s risk management policies and processes. A risk assessment is undertaken for each event with a strong emphasis on health and safety.

All activities involving members of the public are covered by a comprehensive insurance policy arranged for all Rotary clubs by Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland.

This report was approved by the Trustees and signed on their behalf.
