Annual Report 2024/25

Overall Group

Our Group fund raising has continued with Plant sales & Christmas Post. The Camps continues through the year including our July Group camp for Scouts, Cubs & Beavers this year at Littledale near Colton, Lancashire.

Activities were typical through the year for our group and included, Hammock outdoor training with a hammock camp, climbing, firelighting, lake swims, outdoor cooking, golf driving range, lantern building for town festival, disability awareness and expedition training.

We continued as sections, delivering a programme that develops the youngsters to their individual levels & aiming to gain badge accreditation.

The collection of subs from parents has continued througth using OSM & the fees accumulating approx £11k for the full year. Fees were raised in Jan 25 to avoid a predicted shortfall in income. Fees to HQ amounted to £5.6k The claim on Gift Aid was complered for the 23/24 period. Balance at the end of year accounts showed £29.5k a gain of approx £3.5k for the year.

Progress on redevelopment for the hut has stalled as the fundemental question as how we would operate with no accommodation. The phased development is more likely in the future.

The leadership team has remaied the same through the year. Some gain & loss is nticipated for the 25/26 period. Parents continue to support the group at all levels. We continue to use OSM as our management tool for the Group.

Sections.

All sections have remained high on numbers.. The census at Jan 2025 indicated Beavers at Monday & Tuesday = 49 Cubs at Wed plus Thurs = 66 Scouts Friday =31 Overall 146.

We have a waiting list which has been growing with input to sections on a regular basis. Some bottleneck ia still a problem with Beavers often close to missing their first year of Scouting involvment and joining at 7 not 6 . This has eased in 2024/25 due to section size increases. Still stands at 42 including all under age registered applications. All in all a good year for Scouting.
