**Objects:** The Charity&#x27;s objects (&quot;the Objects&quot;) are:a. To advance the education for the public benefit concerning the geophysical and geological data relating to the United Kingdom in particular by the establishment and maintenance of a national collection of such data, including but not limited to data furnished to the Secretary of State for Energy and subsequently published by him pursuant to licences granted in respect of landward areas under the Petroleum (Production) Act 1934;b. to act as agent for the Secretary of State for the purpose of publication of data;c. to transfer and store such data in such forms and media as may be desirable;d. to make such data available to the general public at reasonable cost;e. to promote and facilitate research into the deep geology and underground resources of landward areas of the United Kingdom.Unless the context requires otherwise words or expressions contained in this Article 3 bear the same meaning as in the Petroleum (Production) Act 1934, or, where appropriate, in regulations made or licences granted pursuant to such Act.

**Activities:** The collection, archiving and provision (to corporate, government and academic entities and the general public) of geological and geophysical information recorded in the onshore areas of the United Kingdom - largely by companies in the course of exploration for oil, gas and coal.  Carrying out and sponsoring educational and research projects related to the information archived in the Library.
