4th Epping Forest South (Bancroft's School) Sea Scout Group Year ended 31 March 2022

Trustees' Annual Report

The Trustees present the accounts for the year ended the 31 March 2022

The 4th Epping Forest South (Bancroft's School) Sea Scout Group is a registered charity, number 1437676. lts address is Bancroft's School, Woodford Green, Essex, IG8 0RF.

The group is part of the national Scout Association set up by Royal Charter in 1912. The objects of the Scout movement are the promotion and development of young people in achievement of their physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential as individuals as responsible citizens and members of their local, national and international communities.

The group provides a diverse range of educational, sporting and fun activities for its rnembers who range from the age of 8 to 18. Its aim is to contribute to the fulfilment of their potential using a progressive and enjoyable value based programme for personal development. The school provides facilities for the group for meetings and activities but the group relies upon the voluntary help of the scout and cub leaders, assistants and helpers, as well as upon the voluntary help of the Executive Committee

The charity is administered by the executive committee comprising:

J. Hasselgren – Chairman

P. Still – Treasurer Vacant – Secretary

S. Young – Warranted Group Scout Leader

M. Balchin – Warranted Scout Leader

M. Knight – Warranted Assistant Scout Leader

S. Thirsk – Warranted Assistant Scout Leader

B. Sharma – Warranted Cub Scout Leader

The accounts show the details of the activities organised for the cubs, and sea scouts units. The group made a surplus for the year, which will be transferred to the general reserve fund.

The group needs to have a minimum level of reserves in order to meet its expenditure during the year. The number of cubs and scouts varies and this results in a variable income whilst the level of expenditure on boat maintenance, weekly meeting costs, insurance and capitation fees remains fairly static, The level of reserves is reviewed by the executive committee on a regular basis, to ensure that it is sufficient to meet the needs of the group for the forthcoming year.

On behalf of the Trustees
