The charity is governed by its constitution, adopted on 18/05/1993 and amended on 18/08/2009.
Trustee appointment
Trustees are appointed in accordance with the governing document. The trustees are responsible for the overall management and direction of the charity.
Objectives and Public Benefit
Charitable objectives
The charity’s objectives are:
i) to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the village of Treuddyn and the neighbourhood (hereinafter called “the area of benefit”) without distinction of sex or political, religious or other opinions by associating the local authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the Object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants;
ii) to establish or to secure the establishment of a Community Centre (hereinafter called “the Centre”) and to maintain and manage or to co-operate with any local statutory authority in the maintenance and management of such a centre for activities promoted by the Association and its constituent bodies in furtherance of the above Objects.
Public benefit
The trustees have had due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit and confirm that the charity’s activities are carried out for the public benefit. During this financial year, the charity’s activities focused primarily on Objective (ii), in order to strengthen and support the delivery of Objective (i) for the benefit of the local community.
Activities and Achievements
The charity’s activities and achievements during the year arose largely from the successful award of a substantial grant in the latter part of the previous financial year from the Prosperous Communities Flintshire – Key Fund, administered by Cadwyn Clwyd on behalf of the Flintshire Shared Prosperity Fund and funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
The grant supported a programme of energy efficiency improvements to Treuddyn Village Hall, which the charity maintains for the public benefit of the residents of Treuddyn and the surrounding areas. The works undertaken included the installation of a solar and battery system, energy-efficient lighting, and new external doors.
These improvements have significantly future-proofed the Village Hall against rising energy costs. The solar panels generate renewable energy, which can be stored and used during evening activities via the battery system, reducing reliance on electricity from the national grid. The introduction of energy-efficient lighting further reduces overall consumption, while the new doors improve heat retention, helping to create a warm and comfortable environment for all users of the hall.
Alongside the energy efficiency project, the trustees and the Trustee Support Committee also carried out a programme of aesthetic and practical improvements within the hall. Some of this work was undertaken by volunteers, with additional works completed by skilled tradespeople. These improvements refreshed the interior of the building and enhanced external access to the hall.
During the financial year, the Village Hall welcomed over 1,200 members of the community, attending a range of regular activities and one-off events. These included events organised by the trustees, such as the Children’s Halloween Disco, which welcomed 82 children and their accompanying adults, as well as celebrations and gatherings organised by members of the local community. All activities supported the charity’s objectives and the continued provision of a welcoming and accessible community facility.
Financial Review
Income and expenditure
Total income for the year was £34,862.42, with total expenditure of £39,592.77. Of this expenditure, £29,898.42 related directly to grant-funded energy efficiency works at Treuddyn Village Hall.
Although the grant was awarded during the latter part of the previous financial year, the specific requirements of the Prosperous Communities Flintshire – Key Fund meant that funds were only released once works commenced and agreed milestones were achieved. As a result, the full grant income is recognised within the current financial year (2024–25).
The grant has enabled Treuddyn Community Association to safeguard the long-term sustainability of the Village Hall for the benefit of local residents and the wider community.
Reserves
The trustees consider that the level of reserves held at the year end (£12,970.29) is adequate to meet the charity’s current needs.

Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of Treuddyn Community Association, charity number 1037396.
I report to the trustees on my examination of the receipts and payments account and statement of assets and liabilities of Treuddyn Community Association for the year ended 31/03/2025 .
Responsibilities and basis of report
The trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011.
The trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 and that an independent examination is required.
Independent examiner’s responsibilities
It is my responsibility to examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011, following the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission.
An independent examination involves a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records.
It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from the trustees where necessary.
The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.
Independent examiner’s statement
Based on my review, in my opinion, nothing has come to my attention that requires emphasis for a proper understanding of the accounts.
