Achievements during 2022/23
We had a good intake of children this year especially full on all our day sessions.
It was great to get back to normality with no corona virus restrictions this year, being able to do the simple things like being able to join hands for ring games like ring-a ring a roses and farmers in his den. Playing in sand and water and other sensory activities such as playdough that were restricted are now permitted.
We went back to enjoying our annual farm visit and raised money for our summer trip by having a sponsored bike ride and with the proceeds visited Woldies Nature and Lavender farm.
The children have enjoyed village walks and trips to the local play park on top of their normal activities.
Our wooden planter and seating area was looking tired and in need of structural intervention so we used the money raised from our Christmas Raffle and Bags 2 School collection and applied for a grant from the Parish council and were granted £369 and with the two funds were able to go ahead and in February installed a new planter, digging planter and seating area which the children much enjoy.
With the cupboards in the big hall being dismantled we bought a large storage cage for the toys that were originally stored in the cupboard.
Staff have been busy with CPD completing, safeguarding courses, food hygiene courses and attending APPG on line sessions, this being: The All Party Parliamentary Group for Childcare and Early Education brings together Parliamentarians and leading members for the childcare and early education sector to promote and facilitate discussion on key policy issues.
The village hall have put in a new water heater and heating system in the hall which helps keep the facility we use up to date.
Committee meetings have continued via zoom
Public Benefit
The provision of ready available pre-school childcare in the village is a major benefit to local residents and the general public.
Risk Management
The organisation has policies and procedures in place to reduce the risks to the charity, it's staff and members (in terms of safeguarding, fraud, error and claims) to an acceptable operating level.

RILLINGTON PRE-SCHOOL PLAYGROUP
Independent Examiners Report to the trustees for the year ended 28th February 2023
I report on the accounts of: Rillington Pre-School Playgroup
for the year ended 28th February 2023 which are set out on pages 4 to 6.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 (2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act
-
to follow the procedures laid down in the general directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act), and
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner's report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair' view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention
-
1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect, the requirements;
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act
have not been met; or
- 2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
Dated:
Barrie Tuck Independent Charity Examiner, Marchwood, Back Lane South, Middleton, Pickering, YO18 8NU.
