## **Achievements during 2021/22**

Numbers were good for us in September and we started off with an open session for new starters as many children hadn't had the opportunities to attend parent and toddler groups due to covid and Parents were concerned to how their children would settle. However, with a good key person system in place, children settled quickly and parents were soon asking for additional sessions.

We were able to review covid restrictions and remove all of the restrictions by Christmas. We were then able to hold our Christmas party which the children enjoyed and were also able to take the children on trips again, visiting Flamingoland, the lambs and pigs at a local farm as well as Woldies Nature and Lavender Farm.

We were able to return to our post covid fundraising activities holding a Christmas raffle and a Bags 2 School collection. The children also participated in a sponsored peddle to raise funds for our trip.

Staff have continued with face to face and online training. Committee meetings have also continued via zoom as it seems more convenient when parents have young children.

## **Public Benefit**

The provision of ready available pre-school childcare in the village is a major benefit to local residents and the general public.

## **Risk Management**

The organisation has policies and procedures in place to reduce the risks to the charity, it's staff and members (in terms of safeguarding, fraud, error and claims) to an acceptable operating level.

## **Independent Examiners Report to the trustees for the year ended 28th February 2022**

I report on the accounts of: **Rillington Pre-School Playgroup**

for the year ended 28th February 2022 which are set out on pages 4 to 6.

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 (2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:

- examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act

- to follow the procedures laid down in the general directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act), and

- to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

## **Basis of independent examiner's report**

My examination was carried out in accordance with the general directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair' view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

## **Independent examiner's statement**

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention

- 1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect, the requirements;

   - to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and

   - to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act

have not been met; or

- 2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

Dated:

Barrie Tuck Independent Charity Examiner, Marchwood, Back Lane South, Middleton, Pickering, YO18 8NU.
