Achievements during 2020/21
It has been a very different year this year starting with us being Graded Outstanding by Ofsted once again in March and then the very next day we were asked to go into Lockdown due to coronavirus.
We would have enjoyed open for the vulnerable and key worker children but at this stage Parents were very fearful and with no children attending we closed down. We re-open to all children in June initially with 4 children and quickly numbers grew to 10. Due to our low numbers we opened for two full days and this gave the parents the access they needed during this period.
We initiated online activities for our children's parents to access, offering weekly ideas for parents and a weekly challenge through our Facebook page. We also made parents aware of other websites they could access, such as hungry little minds so they could get ideas for play at home projects for their children.
In September we re-opened fully and most of our children returned and we had lots of new starters too. It was great to see children return with confidence and smiles on their faces, to them little had changed, but we returned with new covid 19 risk assessments and social distancing in place.
So we have not been able to have a lot of our usual fundraising although we held a Christmas raffle supported by lots of local businesses and a bags 2 school collection. Unfortunately additional trips we normally engage in did not go ahead due to the pandemic.
Staff have continued with online training and committee meetings have also continued via the medium of Zoom.
Public Benefit
The provision of ready available pre-school childcare in the village is a major benefit to local residents and the general public.
Risk Management
The organisation has policies and procedures in place to reduce the risks to the charity, it's staff and members (in terms of safeguarding, fraud, error and claims) to an acceptable operating level.
A more detailed summary of the year's events are contained within the full Trustees Annual Report for 2020/21.

RILLINGTON PRE-SCHOOL PLAYGROUP
Independent Examiners Report to the trustees for the year ended 28th February 2021
I report on the accounts of: Rillington Pre-School Playgroup
for the year ended 28th February 2021 which are set out on pages 4 to 6.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 (2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act
-
to follow the procedures laid down in the general directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act), and
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner's report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair' view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention
-
1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect, the requirements;
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act
have not been met; or
- 2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
