I report in reS￿t of my examination of the Trusys accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5}(b) of the Act. Responsibilities and basis of report Independent I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have examiner's ststement come to my attention in connection with the examination (other than that disclosed below ') which gives me cause to believe that in. any material respect: the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements conceming the fonn and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a Irue and fairf view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. I have no concems and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. 74,252| |---|---|---| Synetta Howes Treasurer WARBOROUGH & SHILLINGFORD PRE-SCHOOL ## **AGM Chair report 2024** This past year at WASPS has certainly been less eventful than in the previous few years, which I think we are all thankful for. With the successful re-inspection by Ofsted completed mid-2023, we have settled back into more of a routine with focus on delivering the excellent and engaging childcare that makes WASPs what it is, as well as turning our attention to other improvements which could be made to the setting. ## **Attendance** As with all years, after a busy July WASPs bid a fond farewell to a large number of children as they moved up to Primary School in September. The last term of school is always a mixture of emotions, seeing the once young children grow and flourish, ready to take their first steps in their formal education. The Preschool set them all up well, and with a majority of the children moving to St Laurence school next door, I’m sure the staff are enjoying being able to see how well they have settled into their new class. Number at the setting remain consistent with new incoming children, as well as many on the waitlist through the year. ## **Staffing** We were lucky enough to be able to welcome 2 new members of staff this year, Mwangala who initially joined us through her college course, and we are happy to have working full time with us whilst she completes her level 3, and Shelly who bring with her a wealth of experience and understanding of early years. Both are a pleasure to work with and know. Marianne and Abi continue to support both the management team, and the newer members of staff with their enrolment into the setting. They are both loved by the children – Marianne for her way with the crafts and enthusiasm in getting creative with the children, and Abi for her imaginative play. We are happy to be able to support Abi with her level 3 qualification, and are excited to see how she implements the learning into the setting. I thank you both for everything that you do on a daily basis. We have also been able to maintain our administrative officer in Synetta – a rare luxury in a committee lead, charity setting. Synetta has continued to provide support with her years of experience in managing finances and administration support for the committee. We bid fond farewell to Amelia as she took the huge leap into motherhood. After a long day working at WASPs prompted her baby girl to make her arrival, we unfortunately didn’t get a good chance to send her off in style. She made a huge difference to setting, joining us at a tough time after a poor Ofsted inspection, supporting the team through monumental changes to the setting. We are sorry to see her leave, but more so we are overjoyed for her and her new family, and wish her nothing but the best! All the staff at the setting work incredibly hard; Marianne, Abi, Mwangala, and Shelly, under the careful management of Amie, and Deputy Hannah. I cannot overstate how much time and energy these dynamic duo put into WASPs, and how thankful I am, as I’m sure all the committee and staff are, to have them at the helm of this ship. They have steered us through some rough seas, and I am grateful that this year has been slightly smoother and allowed them to invest their energy into what matters – the children in the room. Even with Amie taking on a huge challenge of working for her level 5 qualification, they have both been making their marks in this first full year in their management roles, and the setting would not be the same successful, loving and engaging place without them. ## **Facilities and Technology** The focus this past year has been on making the necessary physical maintenance and improvements to the setting, most notably the garden development. With Amie at the driving seat, who found a wonderful local company to transform the area, the project was completed during the summer holidays to provide an all-year-round garden that the children can use come rain or shine, without tracking mud through the setting. The garden company also fixed parts of the broken decking, and brought the willow den back to life. Most recently, the setting has become proud owner of a brand new kitchen. With Amie again showing her drive and determination, we went from initial kitchen consultation, to ordering, to delivery and installation within a couple of week. Absolutely record time! It is a wonderful improvement to the facilities at WASPs, and I am excited for whatever the next project will be! ## **Committee changes** After 3 years as Chair, the time has come for me to step down and pass the baton on. It has been tough, really tough, at some times, and an absolute pleasure and delight at others. Overall, I have enjoyed my time being a part of the setting, meeting new friends and having many, many laughs, and will miss it greatly! I am so happy to have been a part of, and supporting the team in turning the setting round through Ofsted (our biggest hurdle by far) and every other challenge we’ve encountered, and I feel it is in very safe hands with Amie, and whomever the next Chair will be. Of course I could not have been Chair without the committee around me. They have been a formidable team, one with the best interests of WASPs at their heart, dedicating their time and energy to it’s success. We are lucky to be keeping our current treasurer and secretary on the committee, who will continue to provide their expertise to all the new incoming committee members. ## **And finally…** After a somewhat calmer year, I am so happy to see how well the staff are gelling with the new management team, well settled into the approach to learning and childcare that the wonderful WASPs offers. Although the day-to-day operations of the preschool remain busy as ever, I hope that all the staff get to take time to pause, reflect on how far we have come in the past few years, acknowledge to yourselves how much of a positive impact you have on the lives of all the children who pass through our doors.
