KPA Kensington Prep School Parents Association Annual Report year ended 31 July 2020 Aim and purposes The purpose of Kensington Preparatory school Parents Association {-KPA"l is to work with Kensington Preparatory School to advance the education of the school and to promote co-operation and good relations between the parents, staff and others associated with the school. A further objective of the KPA is to strengthen the links between the school and the local community. Objectives and activit5 The KPA is committed to raising funds in support of education efforts at Kensington Prep School through purchases of supplementary equipment and other means as detem7ined by the KPA Committee. The KPA a55iSts in the provision of voluntary help to the school for activtties such as reading sUpei510n and promotes social cohesion within the school community through activities such as coffee mornings. The KPA also Sup)rtS outside chartties which have a focus on education or chiklren's services as selerted by the Committee in ass(Kiation with the school. Sn planning these actNitie5. the KPA has regard to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit, trying to provide assistan within the school community and also the wider community. Achievements and perf0mnCe The KPA is a thriving and enthusiastic association whKh organises social events for parents and other school activities and helps to raise funds to provide additional items and facilities. During the year 2019120 the activtties of the KPA were significantly impacted from Mèrch 2020 by the impact of the global pandemic. Prior to the this the KPA arrdnged succe5sfiJl fundraising activities including the Christmas Fair and Quiz night which brought together the parent, teacher and pupil bodies. The KPA also organi5ed two succe55fv1 second hand unrform sales which both provided a service for the parents and acted as a Sour of income for the KPA. Separately the KPA continued offering branded school merchandise through stalls at the fairs and at the second hand uniform sales which proved very popular. The Summer Fair and final second had untforn) sale had to be cancelled due to the global pandemio During the summer temi. a number of Year 6 girls arranged a very successful fundraisin& Run289. to SUPFK)rt those in the local community who are experiencing food insecurity and to help where we can with the digttal drvide. Thi5 raised £14,857 after JustGiving fees which will be distributed directly to families in need and their schools. liaising wwth the local School network of Head Teachers.
KPA Financial Review Total receipts from all activtt*5 were £32.937 with net fundraising of £28.418 after taking into account payments in connection with the fundraising. Of thi5. £14,857 was raised through the Run289. Leavers gifts for the Year 6 girls and payments for staff gifts and other actwities totalled £2.577. As at 31 July 2020 no donations had been made to local charities given the interruption to fundraising caused by the Covid pandemic. Instead the funds raised by the Run289 initiatNe will be distributed through the local network of Head Teacher5 to address the food insecurity and to help with the digital divide during the financial year ended 31 July 2021. The net result forthe year was net income of E25.418. Adding bank and deposit balances brought fOard together with unpresented cheques / payments. the net assets of the KPA at 31 July 2020 were £56,797. Reserves policy The KPA holds its reseNes in bank accounts to be disbursed once suitable proiert5 or charities have been identified. The KPA has undertaken to provide financial support for the plonned redevelopment ofthe outdoor leaming space at the school. This project has not yet started and the funds raised thu5 far are included within the cash held on the balance sheet. The funds raised by the Run 289 Initiative were also included within the cash held on the balan sheet at 31 July 2020. Volunteers The KPA benefits from a strong volunteer base within the parent body. We would like to thank all the volunteer5 who work so hard to enhance the educational and social environment within the School and also to support the local community- Structure. governance and management The method of apF)ointment of the KPA Committee 15 Set out in the Constitution. The KPA Committee consists of the Head of Kensington Prep School. the OffirS (Chaiman, Treasurer. Communications Officer and any other officers the President and Chaimian appoint) and representatives from each cla55 Within the schTh)l. The OffirS are appointed at the Annual General Meeting from the parents and guardian members of the KP Membership of the KPA is open to all parents and guardians of pupils at the school.
