## **Trustees Report 2024 to 2025**

The Trustees confirm the charity’s objectives meet the Public Benefit requirements of the Charities Act 2011.

The charity’s reserves policy is to maintain sufficient reserves to cover at least 3 months expenditure. The reserves are needed to meet the working capital requirements of the Charity and the Trustees are confident that at this level they would be able to continue the current activities of the Charity in the event of a delay or small reduction in the funding received.

The organisation is a registered Charity; the governing document is a Trust Deed dated 26 April 1993. The organisation is managed by the Trustees. The Trustees manage the Charity and its staff. The principal staff are appointed by the Trustees to manage the day to day operations of the Charity.

Trustees are appointed in accordance with the Trust Deed. One Trustees will retire by rotation, as required by the Trust Deed, at each annual general meeting, and if eligible, they can offer themselves for re-election. New Trustees will be selected from suitably qualified individuals in the industry, and will be appropriately trained and instructed by the existing Trustees.

## **Unsubstantiated expenditure**

During the preparation of these accounts, the trustees identified payments made during the financial year totalling approximately £??,??? for which adequate supporting documentation could not be located.

The payments were made during the lifetime of a trustee who has subsequently died. As a result, the trustees have been unable to obtain further explanations or supporting evidence to determine conclusively whether the payments represented legitimate expenditure incurred on behalf of the charity or reimbursement of expenditure previously incurred personally on the charity's behalf.

The trustees have undertaken such enquiries as they consider reasonably practicable in the circumstances. While no conclusive evidence of misappropriation has been identified, neither has the purpose of the payments been fully substantiated.

The expenditure has been included within the accounts because the payments were made from the charity's bank account during the year. The trustees have disclosed this uncertainty to ensure that users of the accounts are aware of the circumstances.

The trustees have considered their regulatory obligations arising from this matter and have taken such action as they consider appropriate.

Little Nippers continue to have a highly experienced team of Early Years Childcare Practitioners. All staff are qualified to Level 3 in Childcare and Education. We are an inclusive setting and welcome all children and their families. We consider children's interests and use the Early Years Foundation Stage to observe, assess and plan activities to support children's development. We work very closely with our Parents/Carers, we send home regular questionnaires, so we know how to improve our setting, we have regular parents’ evenings to discuss their child’s development and progress. We have an open-door policy so parents can see their child’s keyworker, whenever they wish.

In October 2024 we had our Ofsted inspection, which we received a ‘Good’, the Ofsted inspector was lovely, she loved our nursery, staff and all our children which was great to hear.

We have had another good year, our sessions have been filled by new children. The 30 hour funding for Working parents for 3 to 4 year olds have continued to be successful this year. From September 2025 the government is expanding the 30 funding hours entitlement again for children aged from 9 months and two year olds for Working Parents, along with the three to four year olds. We have several children on our waiting list for September 2025.

In September 2024 a new Deputy Manager was appointed, she has updated all of her training to support her role, the Manager will support her in her newly appointed duties, she would now like to be the nursery Senco, she is booked to complete the Senco training beginning of 2025.

Staff have continued to update their mandatory training, attending other training to support their job roles.

Staff have again attended SALT training and Behaviour Management training this year to support children’s needs.

We have had many children again this school year in receipt of EYPP, so management has supported the children with the extra need of resources for the children with development delays.

Children have enjoyed many mornings and afternoons out of the nursery, exploring the village, going to the Post office, local field to support their Physical development and to local Asda to buy ingredients for cooking activities to support their learning.

We had a successful school transition this year, with many of our school leavers; new school teachers, coming into nursery to see the children.

Our school leavers had another good Leavers Graduation, with Parent/Carers attending, we had a children’s DJ and bouncy castle for the children to enjoy.

## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF ROYSTON METHODIST PLAYGROUP**

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 August 2025.

## **Responsibilities and basis of report**

As the charity’s trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

## **Independent Examiner’s Statement**

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or

2. the accounts do not accord with those records.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
