Trustees Report 2019 to 2020

Little Nippers has a highly experienced team of Early Years Childcare Practitioners. All staff are qualified to Level 3 in Childcare and Education. We are an inclusive setting and welcome all children and their families. We consider children's interests and use the Early Years Foundation Stage to observe, assess and plan activities to support children's development. We work very closely with our Parents/Carers, we send home regular questionnaires, so we know how to improve our setting, we have regular parents’ evenings to discuss their child’s development and progress. We have an open-door policy so parents can see their child’s learning journeys/tracking whenever they wish.

Little Nippers has had another successful year. Children have developed well with the continued provision and constant update of learning resources.

We had a great start to the academic year with the 30 hours funding for 3 to 4-year olds, for working parents, and increasing numbers of children to our nursery. We employed two level 3 experienced staff members to join our team.

Children enjoyed their weekly visits to the library, choosing books and having sing songs with library staff.

The Manager of Little Nippers was successfully granted the Co-op Community Grant, we achieved our plans to improve our garden area for development a more focused Physical area for the children, we are still looking for a suitable outdoor gazebo for the outdoor area also.

In March 2020 we were in the middle of a pandemic, and lockdown occurred.

After Easter 2020 we reopened to key workers, also welcoming other children from other nurseries which closed. We remained open throughout all lockdowns, the remainder of the school year had been difficult.

We were successfully granted the Charity Grant from the government, which in August 2020 we improved the inside of the nursery, we decorated throughout, a new floor and new resources, to make it more welcoming to the children when we could reopen to all children.

Due to restrictions, we were unable to do a normal transition for our school leavers, luckily, they were able to return to nursery for six weeks, so we worked with the children building their development, and getting them school ready.

We have another full waiting list for September 2020, and we look forward to welcoming new children to our nursery.
