Publicity for the year

We re joined the Billingshurst Show carnival in June after a Covid break.

Visitors

We had no visitors from the local community, due to Covid. During the brief time when restrictions were lifted, the salesman from Nexus came with resources for the children to try, Purely Sports came on a Wednesday and Thursday each week and all registered children were invited.

Academic Year

We worked hard, all staff and committee to maintain our good standards. Flexible hours for coming and going into our pre-school, which goes down very well with parents, have built on our numbers, and we now have 34 children on our books, with 22 going to school in September. We have helped parents who work and are eligible for 30 hours free childcare. We concentrated on promoting good behaviour and communication. Our outside area has been used every day, making the most of our fantastic surroundings.

All children were supported at home too, they were sent home with learning packs and activities, some of our children borrowed resources from our playgroup to play with at home if they needed them.

We had special activities to help with school readiness and transition in the summer term, where all children had a chance to join in with these. All children achieved their outcomes, parents were very pleased with their children’s progress. Our commitment is to make sure that all children in our care move onto school fully happy.

Committee

Our governing body have been fully committed this year, trying to carry on with virtual meetings or phone meetings. I thank our Committee for the fantastic job they have done, and their enthusiasm held no bounds. Gifts, and donations have helped us buy new resources during this financial and safeguarding difficulty during Covid 19 rules still applying, and help the playgroup keep child friendly.

Practitioners

I would like to thank my team, for their continued commitment and support. It has again, been a very difficult year with the extra commitment to keeping safe during the Covid 19 rules.

Parents / Carers

We normally welcome parents to visit us at any time, and help, read a story or help with the computer. We hope next year will be better, when we are told we need to live with Covid 19. We have had outings with Parents / Carers, Nativity, Christmas Party Week, and managed to still socially distant meet up in the summer holidays. We produce regular newsletters and encourage Parents / Carers to contribute to the planning, hold regular correspondence with Parents / Carers, and promote access to the learning journals.

We have had WSCC managers meetings all year, online, and we are maintaining our quality improvement plan throughout this year.
