Section B: Structure, Governance and Management:
Mrs Sara Thorpe is Manager Miss Vikki Goldbert Deputy Manager (Qualifiled Teacher and Early Years Advisor) part time Miss Kirsty Durman is Chairperson and Committee members gained from October 2019.
Drayton Daisy Chain Pre-school is a member of the Pre-school Learning Alliance, membership number 24043. The Pre-school Learning Alliance Constitution has been adopted. Drayton Daisy Chain Pre-school is registered with ‘Ofsted’, registration number 143461. Ofsted inspection last took place on 24" April 2019 and we are proud to advise of a ‘Good’ grade. This inspection was carried out under the new framework. The inspector advises us of two recommendations to further improve the quality of our provision. The Inspector advised that “The Manager and staff are experienced and enthusiastic. Their calm and positive approach helps to create a nurturing atmosphere where children feel happy, settled and relaxed”
Section C: Structure, Governance and Management:
As set out in the Pre-school Learning Alliance constitution, the aim of the Pre-School is to enhance the development and education of children under the statutory school age, this involves offering a safe and secure learning environment with highly qualified motivated staff, to promote the children’s unique learning styles.
Drayton Daisy Chain Pre-School is registered for full day care between the hours of 8.00 a.m. — 3.00p.m. Monday — Thursday and 8:00 a.m. — 12:00 on Fridays. In the summer term we also offer our school leavers a ‘School Starter’ session run by Miss Vikki Goldbert to support the children’s transition to school. The decrease of hours on a Friday afternoon is due to the session not being viable in the Autumn/Spring term. We are contracted by Portsmouth Early Years to offer children the term after their 3" birthday the Universal Funding - 15 hours per week for 38 weeks per year. We are registered for the government to offer 2 year old funding and have had a couple of families meeting the criteria. We are registered with Portsmouth Local Education Authority to offer the additional 15 hours of Extended Funding thus allowing several working families to claim 30 hours

of Free Universal and Extended Funding. This is very popular for our families with many taking the full 30 hours entitlement. This allowed for all our Practitioners to return in September with confirmed hours.
-
Section D: Achievements and Performance: ,
-
e Drayton Daisy Chain Pre-School continues to have an excellent reputation and has been able to accommodate all of our family’s requirements.
-
e Staffs continue with their professional development (When courses are available) E- Learning is now the preferred choice for our Practitioners. All Early Years Practitioners have a minimum of Level 3 Early Years Qualifications including a Foundation Degree and Qualified Teacher. All Early Years Practitioners have their own Key Person groups.
-
e All staffs are continuing their own professional development. The Management Team attend Termly Cluster meetings and feed the information back through our group supervisions. Safe-guarding courses are now E-Learning.
-
e We have over 20 families attending the Pre-School, accessing 2 Year, Universal and Extended Funding.
-
e The Management Team regularly produce a budget forecast to present to the committee to ensure our continued ability to provide High Quality Childcare. We continue to promote the Pre-School in the local area via our new Website and Facebook, we also have a banner to place upon the church boundary for passing pedestrians and through traffic.
-
e Fundraising activities have been greater restricted due to Coronavirus however we have continued to fundraise including: The “Bags 2 School” which has proved to be very well supported and we now havea termly collection. We like to focus the money raised towards a specific activity or resource, we are looking to develop and improve our outside learning environment. We also have a photographer which raises money via commission. We continue to encouragea voluntary contribution for our healthy snacks. This has been appreciated by our families as the children now have a more varied diet tasting food that may be new to them.
-
e The Pre-School have sadly had to temporarily restrict community visits and visitors due to Coronavirus, however the children did perform a Christmas Nativity which was filmed for parents and we offered the children a Christmas Gruffalo Walk through to enjoy.
-
e The Pre-School continues with the links formed with several Infant Schools for the children’s transitions, sadly due to Coronavirus the normal transitions were restricted however they were supported by on-line meetings and telephone calls.
-
e Our parents have been regularly updated on their children’s progression, Next Steps, Summative Assessment or 2 Year Progress Check, we have found new ways of sharing this information — including outside meetings and telephone calls.
-
e In March 2020 the Government introduced a national lockdown due to Coronavirus, sadly we had to shut from the March 2020. Staff were ‘Furloughed’ until June 2020 when restrictions were lifted and we opened to a small bubble of children and staff. We lost a percentage of income from our paying fees. However, in the September we have been able to stay open even through staff shortages and other government restrictions. We have comprehensive risk assessments in place, alongside testing and following the latest guidelines.
