Governance

All decisions that are either material to the group or relate to any form of financial approval are approved via the Trustee Board that is formed by the above Trustees.

The Trustee Board meets every two months (or more regularly as required for key decisions) and has a standing agenda that includes Financial Statement from the Treasurer, and update on group sections from the Group Scout Leader.

All meetings have a formal agenda with Actions and Decisions, along with key discussion points documented. This includes all voting decisions.

The Group executes activities as defined in the Scout Association Policy Organisation and Rules (POR) as available on the Scout Association website and updated as required.

Trustee training is available from the Scout Association.

Chair’s Update

Another great year with well over 100 young people across ages 4 to 18 involved with the Group, along with our adult volunteers that do such an amazing job of making the activities and camps happen.

We have also this year built our new Fire Pit which is now regularly used by all sections – a great addition to the development of the site.

We continue to need volunteers who can help keep the group going. We are looking for everything from helping with cutting the grass once a month, to members of our Trustee Board. If you can help then please let me know.

Andrew Prescott, Chair

Group Scout Leader’s Update

We’ve had a busy year with all five sections providing a brilliant variety of activities -All sections are well subscribed which is a good indicator of the group’s success.

This year we are celebrating the group’s 80[th] birthday!

The records at Gilwell show that 1[st] Catisfield started in 1944 and was originally known as St Peter & St Pauls– a few years later the group was split into 2 groups, one being 10[th] Fareham and the other 1[st] Catisfield. We still have strong links with our sister group 10[th] Fareham.

We were originally based in Catisfield village in the old ‘Tin Tabernacle’ before moving to our current site when the land and original smaller hut were gifted to the group.

We will be having a party to celebrate our birthday on Saturday 29[th] June and everyone is welcome. We have been contacting ex leaders and anyone that was involved with the group to invite them along.

We are hoping that the scout band will make an appearance, as they originally started at 1[st] Catisfield and as a child I well recall hearing them from across the estate when they were practicing!

We will have a barbeque and of course a big cake!

I’d like to finish this report by thanking the Young People for their enthusiasm, it makes it all worthwhile. Thank you to all the Parents / Guardians for your support and a massive thank you to the leadership team as without you all there would be no 1[st] Catisfield Scout Group.

Lesley Bruton, Group Scout Leader
