We aim our direct training at Children and Young People who are registered as

use of the beaches, we support the cleaning the beach environment and water
quality.
Structure, governance and management
th
Our charity is governed by our constitution last amended on the 8 December
2000.

All Trustees (committee members) are elected at the Annual General Meeting
by members of Bantham Surf Life Saving Club.
Achievements and performance
We successfully operated a Surf Life Saving Club made up of Senior, Youth and
Nipper memberships. Our youngest members are 7 years old and our Youth
st
section continues until the age of 18 as at the l January of the membership
year. We introduced a new category of membership, Social Membership, for
parents who wished to be connected with us but not directly involved. This
year our membership grew to 245 members up from 195 last year.
We created and delivered training sessions for Nippers, Youth and young
lifeguard trainee crew from May until December on Thursday evenings and
Sunday mornings.
We also provided pool sessions January to March at the Quayside Leisure
Centre in Kingsbridge which were attended by over 50 Youth and Nippers and
over 20 Seniors.
Over the year we have trained members for the following awards. Surf
Lifeguard, National Beach Lifeguard, Surf Lifesaver, Rescue Board and Rescue
Tube awards. Three Members attended training in Event Water Safety
Management and gained their qualifications.
Our coaches are trained to Coach Level l and Coach Level 2 as well as
Safeguarding training. Our club safeguarding officers have been busy ensuring
all those working alongside our Youth and Nipper members have been DBS
trained.
We opened our training room doors to a local congregation in order they can
deliver their Sea Service once a year and have a safe warm space to return to
and enjoy a cup of tea.
Our members took part in the local Swimarathon organised by the Rotary Club,
helping to raise monies for both our club and other good causes the Rotary
Club support. Members raised £1,683, resulting in the club receiving £845.

We ran a very successful Open Day; show casing our Youth and Nippers in
their Club Championships, Seniors provided Lifesaving Rescue Demonstrations,
we held a BBQ and cake sale, Grand Raffle and Auction of Lobsters.
We provide free water safety cover provided by our qualified members for the
famous Pub to Pub annual race which is open to the general public and as a
thank you we receive a generous donation from the organiser.
Financial Review
The club is in a healthy position with a balance at the banks standing at
£73,956.53
This is split between two accounts;
Natwest for our general day to day running costs at £27,066.10 and
Barclays for our reserves and building maintenance fund at £46,890.43
We keep on top of our everyday maintenance repairing and renewing as
required. The building maintenance fund is built up to cover repairs and
renewals that come with age but are expensive to afford generally ie the roof,
the sea defence gabions in front of the clubhouse keeping storms at bay.
We are expecting our roof to be identified as needing replacement within the
next few years and this year have replaced our front elevation balcony and
Observation Tower windows, we are yet to have been invoiced for the
windows.
Our reserves are built up to cover both the running costs of the club and to
increase our resources as we expand our membership and activities. We plan
on keeping at least six months running costs as this just about covers readiness
our busy beach season. May- December.
