INCORPORATION AND CONSTITUTION
Little John's Preschool is a regislered charty (No 1036192) and is registered in
England as a charitable company {No7199734). The company was incorporated on
23 March 2010.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITY AND OBJECT OF THE CHARITY
The charity's main goal Is to support the development and education of children, mainly those below
school age. We achieve this by running a community Preschool at St John the Baptist Church in
Clarendon Park, Leicester, offering play. education, and care facilities five days a week during term
time. Parents are encouraged to understand and meet their children's needs and get involved with
the Preschool's actNities. Our sessions are inclusive of all children, regardless of ra￿. cultu￿.
religion. means. or ability. We also promote the study of children's needs and alm to raise public
awareness of these needs.

BENEFITS TO THE COMMUNITY
Little John's Preschool has been operating since late 2009. It is located in the Parish Centre of St John
the Baptist Church in Clarendon Park, a community in Leicester with many young familie> The
Preschool premises are opposite the primary school of St John the Baptist. While not directly
affiliated with the School or the Church, its proximity is convenient for many families, and numerous
children transition to the foundation stage at St John's School.
The care and education provided aim to help children leam and develop essential ski115 necessary for
entry into primary school and beyond. The Preschool focuses on developin8 skills such as social and
emotional development, communication. language, teamwork. and safety, which help chiklren
become confident and active members of their local community.
The staff at Little John's Preschool are knowkdgeable in various aspects of Early Years childcare and
share this knowledge with families from the local community. They offer advice on dlet, mealtimes,
oral hygiene, toilet trainin& and behaviour management. Additional support is available from
external professionals such as speech and language therapists. play therapists, occupational
therapists, physiotheraplsts, early years support. and the area SENCO teacher.
Lwttle John's Preschool is overseen by a committee composed of volunteers and Preschool staff. Thls
allows local parents to contribute to the development and education of their children and gain
valuable experience and skills through voluntary work. The Committee encourages participation in
community events and fosters links with local businesses, educational establishments. anij charities.
MANAGER'S REPORT

By the end of the 2024-25 academic year, there were 42 children enrolled. This included 4 tWO-year-
olds accessing 15 hours of funding and 38 three- to four-year-olds accessing all or part of their
universal or extended funding115 or 30 hours).
During 2024-25, the Preschool collaborated with parents through temily consultations, a joint
workshop with St John'5 School Foundation teachers on school readiness, an oral health information
programme. and a healthy cookin81eoting pro8ram.
Staff training in first aid, food hygiene, and safeguarding was mointained up to date. Preschool
policies and risk assessments were reviewed regularly by staff. Feedback from St John's Baptist
School indicated that the transition has been successful, with children settling into the new school
environment, appearing confident and independent, and prepared to begin their educational
journey and new routine.
COMMirrEE'S REPORT
The Preschool operates Mon(lay to Friday. offering 30 hours of FEEE to eliEible parents. It accepts
both FEEE and private paying 2-year-olds, Wlth fees for under-35 remainin8 at £21.00 per 3-hour
session.
The relationship with St John's the B?ptist School and Church Is posltive, with leadership teams
supportlng these partnerships. The P:-eschool participated in school and church events. promoting
itself. This year, 18 preschool leavers iwent to St John's the Baptist School, while others attended5
Avenue Primary. 3St Thomas More. afjd Ioverdale Infant School. l Ash Field Academy .
FINANCIAL REPORT
The financial report was reviewed and approved. During 2024-25, considering FEEE funding received,
a loss of approximately £ 15635.74 occJrred. As a charitable not-for-profit O￿anIzation, the
Preschool subsidized activities such as children'5 dance and Yoga sessions and the Christmas party.
The Preschool also facllit3ted the migration of children's records and learning journey5. It is leg311y
required to offer a workplace pension scheme, which is managed by our accountsnt. Currently, the
manager and seven staff members are enrolled. including anBank staff who covers when a member
of staff is away. The Preschool provides placements for students registered with one of the
approved national apprenticeship scAbmes, which invofve a set Salary tost. In 2024125.

PLAN FOR 2025-26
Increase the number of enrolled children to ensure financial stability.
Oevelop the preschool's market presence within the area using local amenities and groups.
Maintain and strengthen the relationship with St. John's School and the Church.
Foster relationships with parents and encourage their invoFvement in their children's
learning and development through active participation in the Preschool and the Commlttee.
Continue collaboration with other professional agencies such as the Area Speclal Needs
teacher, Farni￿ Support Worker, local authorities, social workers, police, Duty Assessment
Team IDAS), Ofsted. Early Support Team, Sure Start. health visitory, speech and language
therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and NHS dietary 5UPWrt seNices.
