_The trustees/directors presents their report together with the financial statements for the year ended 31st March 2021_ 

## _**Principal activities**_ 

_The company is a registered charity and it's principal activities continued to be as follows:-_ 

- _for the advancement of the Hindu religion, and in particular amongst the Hindu Gujarati people._ 

_- for the promotion, education, support and advancement of Hindu culture and heritage and in particular the knowledge of Hindu music, dance and art. In furtherance of this object to provide a centre, library, exhibitions and displays._ 

- _relief of poverty._ 

- _letting of community hall_ 

## _**Achievements and performance**_ 

_The financial results for the year are set out on page 7._ 

_Throughout the year the trustees/directors organised Hindu religious and social events._ 

## _**Public benefit statement**_ 

_The charity aims to encourage and educate the Gujarati community in Hindu culture and heritage. Trustees/directors give careful consideration to plan activities which brings together the community by arranging visits to Hindu temples, social and religious events, like meat parties, navratri and diwali celebrations,  and organising community events to raise funds for other charities._

## _**Appointment of trustees / directors**_ 

_Trustees/directors are elected at the annual general meeting. Office bearers hold office for a term of two years. Trustees/directors may serve as a trustee/director for as long as they wish._ 

_The training and induction provided for new members is dependent upon their existing experience and professional skills. They are required to attend monthly meetings and assist at the social and religious events._ 

## _**Reserves policy**_ 

_It is the policy of the charity to use its reserves to settle the building construction loan, repair, maintain, refurbish and extend the community hall, where majority of the religious and social events are held._ 

## _**Audit information**_ 

_In so far as the directors are aware:_ 

_-there is no relevant audit information (information needed by the company's auditors in connection with preparing their report) of which the company's auditors are unaware, and_ 

_-the directors have taken all the steps that they ought to have taken to make themselves aware of any relevant audit information and to establish that the company's auditors are aware of that information._

## _**Statement of Trustees/Directors' Responsibilities**_ 

_The Charity Trustees are responsible for preparing a trustees' annual report and financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice)_ 

_Company law requires the charity trustees to prepare financial statements for each year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charitable company and the group and of the incoming resources and application of resources, including the income and expenditure, of the charitable group for that period. In preparing the financial statements, the trustees are rquired to:_ 

_●select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;_ 

_● observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP;_ 

- _make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;_ 

_● state whether applicable UK accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements;_ 

_● prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in business._ 

_The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and the group and hence taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities._ 

_The trustees are responsible for the maintenance and integrity of the corporate and financial information included on the charitable company’s website. Legislation in the United Kingdom governing the preparation and dissemination of financial statements may differ from legislation in other jurisdictions._ 

## _**Statement as to disclosure to our auditors**_ 

_In so far as the trustees are aware at the time of approving our trustees’ annual report:_

_We have audited the financial statements of Darji Mitra Mandal of the UK for the year ended 31st March 2020 which comprise the Statement of  Financial information, Income and Expenditure Account, Balance Sheet and the related notes. The financial reporting framework that has been applied in their preparation is applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice)._ 

_This report is made solely to the charitable company's members, as a body, in accordance with Chapter 3 of Part 16 of the Companies Act 2006.  Our audit work has been undertaken so that we might state to the charitable company's members those matters we are required to state tothem in an auditor's report and for no other purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than the charitable company and the charitable company's members as a body, for our audit work, for this report, or for the opinions we have formed._ 

## _**Respective responsibilities of the directors/trustees and auditors**_ 

_As explained more fully in the Statement of Trustees' / Directors' Responsibilities set out on page 4. The trustees' (who are also the directors of the company for the purpose of company law) responsibilities for preparing the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards. (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice) and for being satisfied that the financial statements give a true and fair view are set out in the Statement of Trustee's Responsibilities._ 

_Our responsibility is to audit and express an opinion on the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and International Standards on Auditing (UK and Ireland)  Those standards require us to comply with the Auditing Practices Board's Ethical Standards for Auditors._ 

## _**Scope of the audit of financial statements**_ 

_An audit involves obtaining evidence about the amounts and disclosures in the financial statements sufficient to give reasonable assurance that the financial statements are free from material misstatement, whether caused by fraud or error.  This includes an assessment of: whether the accounting policies are appropriate to the charitable company's circumstances and have been consistently applied and adequately disclosed; the reasonableness of significant accounting estimates made by the trustees; and the overall presentation of the financial statements. In addition, we read all the financial and non-financial information in the Trustees' annual report to identify material inconsistencies with the audited financial statements.  If we become aware of any apparent material misstatements or inconsistencies we consider the implications for our report._ 

## _**Opinion on financial statements**_ 

_In our opinion the financial statements_ 

- _give a true and fair view of the state of the charity's affairs as at 31st March 2020_

## _1)_ _**ACCOUNTING POLICIES**_ 

_The principal accounting policies have been applied consistently throughout the year and in the preceding year._ 

## _**(a) Basis of accounting**_ 

_The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015) - (Charities SORP (FRS 102)), the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) and the Companies Act 2006._ 

## _**(b) Fund accounting**_ 

_• Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of the charity. Unrestricted funds include a revaluation reserve representing the restatement of investment assets at market values._ 

- _Designated funds are unrestricted funds earmarked by the Management Committee for particular purposes._ 

- _Restricted funds are subjected to restrictions on their expenditure imposed by the donor or through the terms of an appeal._ 

## _**(c) Incoming resources**_ 

_All incoming resources are included in the statement of financial activities when the charity is entitled to the income and the amount can be quantified with reasonable accuracy. The following specific policies are applied to particular categories of income:_ 

- _Voluntary income is received by way of grants, donations and gifts and is included in full in the Statement_ 

_of Financial Activities when receivable. Grants, where entitlement is not conditional on the delivery of a specific performance by the charity, are recognised when the charity becomes unconditionally entitled to the grant._ 

- _Donated services and facilities are included at the value to the charity where this can be quantified._ 

_The value of services provided by volunteers has not been included in these accounts._ 

- _Investment income is included when receivable._ 

- _Incoming resources from charitable trading activity are accounted for when earned._ 

- _Incoming resources from grants, where related to performance and specific deliverables, are accounted for as the charity earns the right to consideration by its performance._ 

- _Net incoming resources are shown in accounts as the functions are not held for fund-raising purposes, but are religious and social activities._ 

## _**(d) Resources expended**_ 

_Expenditure is recognised on an accrual basis as a liability is incurred. Expenditure includes any VAT which cannot be fully recovered, and is reported as part of the expenditure to which it relates:_ 

- _Costs of generating funds comprise the costs associated with attracting voluntary income and the costs of trading for fundraising purposes._ 

- _Charitable expenditure comprises those costs incurred by the charity in the delivery or its activities and services for its beneficiaries. It includes both costs that can be allocated directly to such activities and those costs of an indirect nature necessary to support them._ 

- _Governance costs include those costs associated with meeting the constitutional and statutory requirements of the charity and include the audit fees and costs linked to the strategic management of the charity._ 

- _All costs are allocated between the expenditure categories of the SOFA on a basis designed to reflect the use of the resource. Costs relating to a particular activity are allocated directly, others are apportioned on an appropriate basis e.g. floor areas, per capita or estimated usage as set out in Note 3._
