Para 1.20 | Sunday Services: 2 Sunday Services every week. The Cantonese Service cater the need of the large number of new immigrants from Hong Kong and residing in Coventry and surrounding regions started from Sept 2021 has continued to run as of today. This has been welcome and well used to support the new immigrants spiritually, emotionally and practically. It has also helped new immigrants to settle down and slowly but gradually connected and integrated into the wider community. The second Sunday Service served those who can understand either Mandarin or English and their English speaking spouses and their children. There has been a growing numbers of families with young children attending the Church. These families bond well together and supporting each other in parenting as well as developing their Christian faith and value. Sunday Schools and youth groups: 2 Sunday Schools for younger children and youth bible study groups for teen-agers run alongside the two Sunday Services. These groups aim to teach the youngsters the bible systematically and promote and develop Christian faithandvalues at theiryoung age. |
Children and young people have been encouraged to connect with the wider community by participating in charitable activities. All these groups continued to grow in unity and in numbers, and one of these two youth groups attracted more than 30 teen-ages. The Church has continued to invite an external team working for children and youth to run our Christmas celebration with a gospel message. Invitation to this annual event extended to friends and families, and children in our local community. It has been a very popular annual event every Christmas. University students fellowships: The church continued to support 4 university student fellowships which provide opportunities for people to explore and develop Christian faith, and helping new students to settle down in Coventry. We have been encouraged by hearing from individuals returned to their home countries how their lives been impacted during their time in Coventry and with these fellowships. Fellowships and cell groups: Regular Cell Group meetings in various languages and at various times to cater for everyone who wants to join. Most of these activities take place physically in the church building or other venues while some remain meeting online to facilitate joining from different regions of the country and for those who returned to their country but wish to remain connected with the Church. The weekly Cantonese fellowship has expanded a lot, with the large number of new immigrants joining. This fellowship has helped new immigrants to settle down practically as well as the Christian faith. Many of these had become more committed to the working together in the church. Church prayer meetings continued to be held weekly and online. We started to have monthly prayer meeting in church to promote fellowship and unity while praying together for the Church. Baptism and church membership 2 Baptism service this year and 8 people were baptised. 8 new church members accepted, 7 changed to inactive member as they changed to Rugby church to worship, 1 member passed away. We now have 64 registered members. Church and evangelistic activities Joined City Praise and Prayer with other churches in Coventry. Carol Service in December at Church as well as in the local community. Mid-Autumn Festival; Chinese New Year
celebration; BBQ and outings catered for church members as well as for friends and families. Missionary support/charitable activities and donation: We continue to support various missionaries and missions, including WRRCN led by Comfort Davis in Nigeria, Heartlink in India, Andrew Smith (OMF Int’l), Lawrence Sin (COCM), OM UK, CCHC-UK, UKAFC and Hope Coventry. All these church activities are free to those who attend with the exception of trips, but these are also subsidised to avoid anyone being excluded for lack of funds. Our activities not only enable members and enquirers to grow in faith but also provide them with a network of friends who support one another in times of need and prevent people from becoming isolated and lonely. Members cared and supported each other in particular for those suffering from distress. The church building has been used for many years by the city council as a Polling Station.
