Willaston Pre-school offers education and care for children below school age and over the age of 2 with:
-
A specially tailored curriculum leading to the early goals
-
Individual care and attention made possible by a high ratio of adults to children
-
The support of a personal key worker
-
Opportunities for the child and their family to be directly involved, in the activities of the group and their own child’s progress.
The Pre-school is registered with the local Children and Families Service which supports the aim of providing education and care of high quality throughout the Foundation Stage. It is open during term time on Monday to Friday offering full day care from 7.30am–5.30pm with the option of full days or sessional care. All morning and afternoon sessions are planned to ensure that they provide the children with access to the seven areas of Summary of the main activities undertaken for the learning as defined by the Early Years Foundation Stage. public benefit in relation to The management and control of the Pre-school is the responsibility of the these objects (include within individual members of the Pre-school’s management committee. The trustees annually review the risks that the charity faces. To date these risks relate to the increasing SEN demand in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic, employment of staff, and the provision of childcare; these risks are minimised by observing government guidance, robust policies and procedures and the provision of adequate insurance. The trustees have had regard to the guidance on public benefit issued by the Charity Commission and are working to ensure the pre-school continues to meet the aim of advancing education for the public benefit. We ensure that fees are set so as to enable the pre-school to just cover our costs over a 3-year period.
The trustees operate the pre-school in line with the Pre-school Learning Alliance Model Pre-school Constitution 2011 version. The trustees intend to continue to review the level of service provision and all policies and procedures will be reviewed and updated as necessary annually.

Section D Achievements and performance During this financial period the pre-school has been able to offer the Summary of the main opportunity of development and education for over 35 children under achievements of the charity statutory school age who live in the Willaston area, including Nantwich during the year and Crewe. We have offered appropriate education and care facilities and encouraged parents to become involved with the Pre-school. We have enhanced our offer through all weather provision provided by a selffunded canopy. We have also often taken the children offsite, including a visit to the library on the bus, visits to a local care home and Willaston Hall– all of which helps our children with understanding the world. We have increased our staff to meet demand, and accessed Level 5 training for our deputy plus taken on another apprentice. We ensure appropriate learning is able to take place whatever the level of need and to keep all children safe. We have accessed SEN funding where possible. Fundraising has resumed with continually generous donations from parents.

Accounts independently examined by N A Hooper, MAAT, 6 February 2025
Independent examiner's report on the accounts
Section A Independent Examiner’s Report
Report to the trustees/ Willaston Pre-school members of
On accounts for the year 31[st] August 2025 Charity no 1035488 ended (if any) Set out on pages 2 2 (remember to include the page numbers of additional sheets)
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Charities Act”) and that an independent examination is needed. [The charity’s gross income exceeded £250,000 and I am qualified to undertake the examination by being a qualified member of AAT.
It is my responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act,
-
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act, and
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given examiner’s statement by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention examiner's statement (other than that disclosed below *)
-
which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements:
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act
-
have not been met; or
-
to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
