| Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit) |
Willaston Pre-school offers education and care for children below school age and over the age of 2 with: A specially tailored curriculum leading to the early goals Individual care and attention made possible by a high ratio of adults to children The support of a personal key worker Opportunities for the child and their family to be directly involved, in the activities of the group and their own child’s progress. The Pre-school is registered with the local Children and Families Service which supports the aim of providing education and care of high quality throughout the Foundation Stage. It is open during term time on Monday to Friday offering full day care from 7.30am–5.30pm with the option of full days or sessional care. All morning and afternoon sessions are planned to ensure that they provide the children with access to the seven areas of learning as defined by the Early Years Foundation Stage. The management and control of the Pre-school is the responsibility of the individual members of the Pre-school’s management committee. The Committee members are also the charity trustees of the Pre-school. New Committee members (trustees) are elected as needed at the Annual General Meeting; advice is sought from the Early Years Learning Alliance when needed to clarify the role of the trustees or for more general information. The trustees annually review the risks that the charity faces. To date these risks relate to the Covid-19 pandemic, employment of staff, and the provision of childcare; these risks are minimised by observing government guidance, robust policies and procedures and the provision of adequate insurance. The trustees have had regard to the guidance on public benefit issued by the Charity Commission and are working to ensure the pre-school continues to meet the aim of advancing education for the public benefit. We ensure that fees are set so as to enable the pre-school to just cover our costs over a 3-year period. The trustees operate the pre-school in line with the Pre-school Learning Alliance Model Pre-school Constitution 2011 version. The trustees intend to continue to review the level of service provision and all policies and procedures will be reviewed and updated as necessary annually. |

Section D Achievements and performance
During this financial period the pre-school has been able to offer the Summary of the main opportunity of development and education for 40 children under statutory achievements of the charity school age who live in the Willaston area, including Nantwich and Crewe. during the year We have offered appropriate education and care facilities and encouraged parents to become involved with the Pre-school. Since April 2022, we have offered longer hours, hot lunches and enrichment activities, in order to meet the needs of all families.
We have also often taken the children offsite, including a visit to the library on the bus, a visit to a local bee-keeper and visits to a local care home – all of which helps our children with understanding the world. One of the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic has been the vast increase in children with SEN. We have recruited more staff to ensure appropriate learning is able to take place whatever the level of need and to keep all children safe. We have accessed SEN funding where possible. Fundraising has resumed with very generous donations from parents. We have also taken part in our Nativity and Sports Day. We are very grateful to the Zochonis Charitable Trust for their large donation which funded our triennial paediatric first aid training for all staff.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Charities Act”) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act,
-
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act, and
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner’s statement
My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention examiner's statement (other than that disclosed below *)
-
which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements:
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act
-
have not been met; or
-
to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
