improve the preschools accessibility for certain
cohorts of parents. Presently demand negates

session. Which we believe not only benefits the
children but has also allowed the parents time
to talk freely with their chlld's key worker.

Financially* forthe second consecutive year,
after a period of runnln8 at a loss- the 5ettin8
has made a surplus. This stabilisation is due to
an increased number of children attending the
settin& a trend which look5 set to continue for
at least the next 1-2 years. Staffing remain5
flexible and staff/child ratlos were constantly
observed.

We sent a group of children onwards,
predominantlyi to our two local primary
schools. With staff members working closelv
alon8side the teachers and parents, offerin8
lots of help with the transitional PToce5S.
We have been able to offer the opportunity for
these children (those who moved up to
Bathford Primary School) to return to
Pepperpot. during the staggered starts that are
offered in September by the school. Which has
enabled the parents to secure vltal

wraparound care, allowingthem to fulfil their
working Comrnitments.
We strive to ensure that the 51aff members
that we ernploy feel fully appreciated and
listened to. We arrange regular staff meetings,
and we also have individual staff supervision
rneetin8S to highlight any difflculties that the
staff may be facin8 alongside theiryearlv
appraisal. All staff are encouraged to complete
a variety of childCa￿ courses, throughout the
year. In line with OFSTED recommendation5,
we have ring-fenced a budget to support this
personal and professional development
further.
We have also invited a couple of students from
two local secondary Schools. to join us for their
work experience week. We continue to host
several students from Norland College each
year, during their six weekly in setting
placements. We feel that this arrangement has
greatly benefited the setting, the students and
above all the children.
Ourgoal is to continue to provide excellenl
pre-school education forthe children of
fatnilies throughout the surrounding area.

Following several years of running at a 105S

in utilitles etcl, in 2024125 we made a small
profit- for the second consecutive year. Our
avallable cash reserves a￿ replenished to a
level that will allow for continued service
viability through any future financial pinch
points. Place uptake numbers were

remalned strong in 2025126, and look set to
continue for 2026127. Whith will hopefully
allow us to Invest in staffing and settlD8
enhancement5.

We have the set requirement to have sufficient
reserves to cover 3 months. running Costs,
which is approximate￿ £15,000- at a
minimum. We aim to ￿deal￿ hold 6 months
costs in reserve, to provide an adequate buffer
for periods where the service runs at a loss.
The setting 15 very small, and price5 for
attendance are kept as low as possible to
ensure wider access for all local families. Small
variance in uptake each year (due the nurnber
of suitably aged children fluctuating within our
inforrnal caichmentl can have a signrficani
impact on income, whilst expenditure on core
resources is not as flexlble.

Our principal funding comes from the EYE
sources of funds (including

Parents are also required to pay a £25.¢JO non-
refundable admin fee to regisier their chlld
with the setting. To secure a place and specific
sessions fortheir child, a reservatlon deposit of
£100 is taken. The deposit Is fully refundable
when either agreed notice is given or the
chlld's place Is taken up.
The greatest expenditure is as always, the staff
wa8e bill.
The Manager alongside the Committee discuss
the staff rota and admissions, at variou5 times
throughout the year, to ensure that the
staff/child ratios are always adhered to and to
keep a c105e eye on the settings overall
expenditure.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above
charty I'lhe TTusI°I for the year ended 3110812024.
Responslbilities and As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the
basis of report accounts in accordance wth the requirements of the Ch8rf(ies Act 2011
(Ihe Act.).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out
under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I
have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission
under section 145151{bl of the Act.
Basis of independent My examination was carried out in accordance with the general directions
examiner's report given by the Charty Commissioners. An examination includes a review of
the accounting re¢ords kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts
presented with those records. 11 also includes consideration of any unusual
items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as
trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not
provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and
consequenuy I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the
accounts.
