13[th ] Coventry AGM – 8[TH] May 2025.
Nigel completed introductions and welcomed everybody.
Apologies – Stefan, Rachael, Ronnie, Sam
Nigel reviewed minutes from last AGM in May 2024.
-
We are still looking for a treasurer.
-
13[th] accounts are still in positive figures.
Caitlin and Des approved last year’s minutes.
Financial report
13[th] Income is just under £39,000.
We have spent just over £40,000 in the last financial year.
End of March 2024 – We have spent £1713 more than we raised but this is not a cause for concern. We had to make some large payments including £11,000 of new flooring. The old flooring had been down for 19 years.
Tommies playgroup gave us £17,500 towards cost of running the Scout Hut. Nigel explained that the 13[th] is one of the most affluent Scout Groups across the UK.
There is currently £60,000 in the scout group accounts so any items that are required can be purchased.
We also got some grants over the last financial year which have been arranged by the new Lady Mayoress and 13[th] Trustee - Rachael Lancaster.
Nigel offered questions out – no questions.
Once accounts are finalised, they are audited by Bob Tansey from the District. Bob has audited 24/25 accounts, and they are accurate and a true record of income and expenditure.

Scouts
Scouts have participated in District camps, as well as camps with their own troops. They have had their Hammock camp and were woken very early by Armed Police on a training day!
They have been working on their leadership skills and teamwork, and they are empowered to plan and make decisions about their own scouting experience.
Scouting numbers have grown in the last year and this reflects the young people that attend and the activities that they have planned. Young people have exceeded their own expectations and completed challenges that they didn’t know they could do.
Hard work has been recognised during Scout sessions and during this AGM, three Scouts have been awarded with their top awards.
-
Brandon

They have worked extremely hard, and their dedication and attitude is admirable. They are going to be very missed and with them and our older Scouts an amazing, continued Scouting journey.

Thankyou Gaz, Kaz, Michelle, Carla, and Nicky help over the last year.
Thank you and congratulations to Ella who has progressed from Young Leader to Leader.

Presentation:
Scouting Values
Squirrels
Shauna presented Kian with a Values award. Kian found the transition difficult but has settled in well and enjoys Squirrels and listens to everything.
Beavers
Caitlin presented Lewis with his Values award. Lewis has progressed to be very independent, skilled, and very reliable, managing his lodge independently.
Cubs
Carrie presented Ivy with her Values award for being stand out with all Cubs leaders. Ivy is very modest and quiet but will help everyone. She is a good example and is very kind and caring.
Scouts
Carrie presented Mikey with his Values award. Mikey is smiley, positive, kind-hearted, generous, makes everyone laugh and is everything we want a scout to be. A great role model!
Band - Ollie was presented with his Values award as he has shown amazing progress and his musicianship has reached a high level. He has confidence and is a key player in the Band.
AOB:
Scouts’ association is a charity as a general. 13[th] is one of the few groups that has their own charity number, so we can get a discount on business rates.
We spent £4000 on new electrics and £1000 on a new alarm system.
Nigel closed meeting.
Thanks, from Nigel.
