## **Agenda:** 

## 1: _Welcome_ 

Nigel opened the AGM and introduced himself and explained his role (chair, financing, books) Nigel thanked those in attendance. 

## 2: _Apologies_ 

No apologies given. 

## 3: _Minutes of last AGM to be approved_ 

Apologies that minutes from last AGM are not available to view. Nigel gave a brief overview of 2023 AGM. The financial position is better year on year. 

Jane nominated Nigel for chair. 

Election of Kelly Boyce for Secretary. 

No-one came forward to act as Treasurer, so Jane and Nigel currently oversee. Reports were read out. 

2023 minutes were accepted and approved by Simon and James. 

## 4: _Financial report_ 

Nigel gave overview of financial reports. They have been audited by Scouts Association and have been approved. 13[th] had over £47,000 in income for 2023/24. This is a brilliant figure for a Scouts group. 

13[th] spent £42,500 so in positive figures at end of the financial year. 

13[th] Scouts have income from the Nursery who pay rent, so this creates a good position for us to be in. 

£10,000 was paid out on Camps 2023/24. 

Financial reports are attached to these minutes and there are no changes envisaged. 

Nigel advised that the money is there to be spent. 

Bank balance is currently over £50,000. 



## 5: _Approval of GLV nomination for Chairman_ 

Jane invited nominations for Chairman. Jane nominated Nigel. Ronnie and Shauna seconded Nigel for Chairman. 

## 6: _Election of Group Secretary_ 

Nigel proposed Kelly to continue as secretary. Carey and Carrie seconded Kelly for Secretary. 

## 7: _Election of Group Treasurer_ 

Nigel put it to the group that there is a vacancy for Treasurer. Jane currently processes paperwork and pays out. Nigel oversees the transactions. Request for a volunteer was made. 

No election of Treasurer during AGM as training is required.

## 9: _Approval of elected and nominated members_ 

David and Miranda seconded the election of the Trustee board. 

## 10: _GLV Group Summary_ 

**Squirrels** are excused from presentations. Two Squirrels spoke on behalf of the section and said they enjoy colouring and Lego, but that biscuits are the best things about Squirrels. 

**Beavers –** Two Beavers presented. One beaver said they made new friends. Another beaver said they were proud of their building and first aid badges. Beavers said they enjoy doing activities that they don’t get to do at school. 

**Cubs –** Six Cubs presented. Gaz asked Cubs what they liked the most. Boundless outdoors was a favourite thing for the Cubs. Cubs liked getting badges for learning new things such as lighting a fire with flint and steel. Cubs enjoyed water weekend and getting outside and muddy! 



**Scouts –** 13 Scouts presented. Scouts listed things they enjoyed: 

- Learning first aid. 

- Water weekend – Award for the best design on the raft (Minions!) Various activities across water weekend such as Kayaking, meeting other Scouts groups. 

- Survival camps – to learn life skills such as use the Trangia and fire for cooking. 

- Boundless outdoors – activities that can’t be offered in usual Scout sessions. One child said it was their first night away from home. 

- Making friends – “getting away from parents” 

Jane rounded up the different groups and summarised some of the larger group activities. 

Jane shared how proud she was that everyone pushed their own boundaries and took part in activities that they haven’t done before. Youth members seem to enjoy the activities on offer and had many visitors come and do activities with the sections. Jane thanked the leadership team for their hard work, willingness to help other sections, great team effort. 

Jane welcomed Caitlin, Jordan, Nicola, Sam H, Emma, Abi, Sam to the 13[th] Group. 

Jonathan and Bobby started as Young Leaders and are now taken on adult leadership roles within the group, Jane thanked them for their support. 

Jane mentioned that through DofE award scheme the group is lucky to have young leaders who support in various sections with the group, Jane thanked Taylor, Ella, Megan, Matt, Isaac, and Abi for the support their work within the group. 

## **Endeavour Awards** 

_Band_ : Megan for great determination, persistence, and improvement in confidence. 

_Scouts:_ Jaydon for embodying scouting values, kindness, consideration, and respect. 

_Cubs:_ Lara for having a go at everything, being kind and helpful and being a go-to Scout for support. Jack for showing true scouting spirit. 

_Beavers_ : Ava for good scouting values and working well as a team. Kayla for coming out of her shell and improvement in confidence. 

_Squirrels_ : Ivar and Oscar for showing responsibility in guiding new Squirrels, and a pleasure to be around, showing good leadership. 

## 11: _Special guest comments_ 

Nigel introduced Michelle Cox – County Commissioner. Michelle thanked the group for being invited to the AGM. Michelle said she was proud of the leadership team at 13[th] . 

Michelle presented top awards. 

_Squirrels_ : Oscar and Ivar gained their Acorn top awards. 

_Beavers:_ Chief Scouts Bronze Awards for Ava, Kayla, and Charlie. 

_Kings Scout Award_ – The highest award that any young person can achieve in Scouting. This award was presented to: Ella Brown. 



## 12: _AOB_ 

Nigel thanked Michelle for attending the AGM. 

Nigel asked the group if there was anything to raise. No other comments. 

Nigel mentioned the floor – it was laid in 2006. A floor fitter is required to replace 25-35% of the floor. Please get in touch with the 13[th] if you know anyone can help otherwise it will go to tender.
