Board of Trustees: The Trustees comprises of the Group Scout leader (GSL), a Chairman of the Group Trustees appointed by the Trustees, and elected members, who are voted in on an annual basis at the Group’s AGM. Don Bishop Buildings Officer Lucy Bishop ACL Alison Goonewardane-Brown Squirrels Leader Clare Walker Squirrels Leader Lynne Payne Cub Leader lan Page CONSTITUTION Governed by The Scouts POR BANKERS; Barclays Bank plc ## 537 Scout Group, Berkswell ## Report of The Trustees for the year ended 31 March 2025 The Trustees present their annual report and unaudited financial statements for the year ended 31 March 2025. ## The Benefits of Scouting: The Scout Movement is defined as a voluntary, non-political, educational movement for young people, open to all without distinction of origin, race or creed, in accordance with the purpose, principles and methods conceived by the Founder, Baden Powell. The Movement is open to all, and members are treated equally and with respect. It reflects the fundamental ideas of integrity, responsibility, care, cooperation and belief. This applies equally to girls and boys in all socio-economic and cultural groups and those with disabilities. All are challenged to acquire practical skills not commonly found together elsewhere. They may take part in projects which enhance leadership skills, decision -making, self-sufficiency, environmental issues and first aid. They are supported in their aspirations and challenged to reach their full potential through achievement of awards. Aside from ail this, weekly fun, friendship and adventure are on offer to all. The goal is to empower young people to become responsible citizens. ## The Public Benefit: The Scout House provides places for many children wishing to be part of the Scout Movement. Our community includes Tile Hill (Coventry), Balsall Common and Hampton in Arden (Solihull West Midlands) and Barston. The Scouts are involved with the community by assisting the Parish and charity events such as fetes, village barbeques and church festivals a d help with the fund-raising activities of the Lions Organization. We also loan and erect major equipment (e.g. marquees and barbeque facilities) which are also gifted to local organisations. This work with the community is considered to be an important part of Scouting and the development of our objectives. The Group also parades with other organisations at District or County events. At our various meetings Trustees are regularly reminded of the major activities of the Group and of their legal duties to ensure to ensure those activities are carried out in accordance with relevant guidance notes of the Charities Commission. ## Purpose of the 53 Group: The Group provides Scouting activities for youngsters aged 6 to 18, of all denominations, in accordance with the Policy, Organisation and Rules of the Scout Association UK. The Group is based at its Headquarters in the Scout House, Berkswell. The Group comprises a Beaver Colony, for age range 6 to 8; a Cub Scout Pack, for age range 8 to 10 %; a Scout Troop, for age range 10% to 14. Although numbers fluctuate, on average each section has sufficient Leaders to accommodate up to 24 youngsters. Each section meets at the Scout House on a different weekday evening or at different times on the same evening. ## Purpose of the Group Trustees: The Trustees are responsible for the general control of the Group’s finances, assets and fund-raising activities. The Trustees give their time freely and receive no remuneration or other financial benefits. The role of Chairman is an appointment by the Trustees for a 3-year period of office. Other Trustees are either appointed at the AGM or can elect to stand by virtue of being a Group Leader. In electing new Trustees we identify Leaders, parents of Group members or people who regularly attend events and functions organised by the Group and are willing to give their time in attending the Trustees Committee Meetings. The Trustees met 8 times in the financial year to 31 March 2025, where reports were received from the various sections about their scouting activities and their requests for associated expenses were considered for approval. At the Annual General Meeting, on the 26 April 2024 the composition of the Board of Trustees was amended, as necessary, to reflect the changed status of existing Trustees who could no longer serve and to elect new Trustees. The Trustees organised fund-raising events and reviewed the financial standing of the Group. At each Trustees meeting the Group Treasurer was required to present an update detailing income and expenditure, for scrutiny and approval by the Executive and a nominated scrutineer. Proposed expenditure in connection with the Group’s activities, such as maintenance of the building or repairing or replacing equipment, were considered, discussed and if accepted, approved. ## Policy on Reserves As of 31 March 2025 cash reserves are £48,874.99. The reserves are held for the current and future needs and events organised by the 53 (Berkswell) Coventry Scout Group. **----- Start of picture text -----**

The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to - e Examine the accounts under sections 145 of the Act; - ¢ Follow the procedures laid down in the general directions given by the Charity Commission under the Act; and - e State whether particular matters have come to my attention ## Basis of independent examiners report My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual item or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations the trustees concerning such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a true and fair view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below. ## Independent Examiner’s Statement In connection with my examination, no matters have come to my attention; 1. Which give me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements e To keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Act; and ¢ To prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Act have not been met; or | 2.
