Annual Report 2024
Objectives:
To pursue the objectives of Girlguiding concerned with assessing girls and young women to fulfil their potential to take an active and responsible role in society.
Activities:
We had a busy year in 2024 with our usual sleepovers, camps, boating, a District Day at Paxmead entitled Canoe – Cook – Craft which was enjoyed by everyone. A visit to the cinema to see ‘Moana’ and a visit to the theatre to see ‘Wicked’. Ice skating at Hampton Court and a visit to the City Farm. The Rangers went to the RNLI headquarters at Teddington, where the girls took part in an exciting evening of activities based on what happens on the river Thames. Our Rangers took part in the Surrey Youth First Aid competition and came first.
This year we took part in Scoutabout which is a weekend camp where over 4000 Scouts and Guides join together at the South of England Showground, Ardingy. There were over a hundred activities to keep everyone occupied and great fun was had by all.
Those girls who are interested in ‘space travel’ wrote to the Space Link Up Day and one of our group was chosen to actually speak to an astronaut while she was in space! An amazing experience for her and she was then introduced to the Duchess of Edinburgh – a very exciting day.
Achievements:
This year we had eight girls who gained their Queen’s Guide Award – this is the highest award that can be gained in Girlguiding.
Others gained Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards for finishing at Guides, Brownies and Rainbows and most went on to their next section.
An excellent result for our very busy year.
