The Main Bank Account Reserves - unrestricted
The Group's policy on reserves is to hold sufficient resources
to Lolltiiiue tl)e Lliaritable altivities of die group sliould
income and fundraising activities fall short. The Group
Executive Comrnittcc considers that the group should hold the
reserves for the following purposes:
i) A general reserve equivalent to three months running
costs,
ii) Reserves providing working capital.
iii) A maintenance reSe￿,e for unplanned emergency
repairs on the aging huL
iv) reserves to cover the tetnporary rental of an alternative
scout hut in the period when the new hut is being builL
v) an international scouting reserve to offer financial
suptx)rt to Wash Common scout members and young
leaders to all¢iid iiilcrjidlioiial jtu)ilx)rees'
vi) a reserve for la￿er equipment purchases i.e. tents,
canopies, cookers, fridges etc...
vii) and, a hardship fund to supwrt eligible families on
acti￿111¢5 and camps.
The total amount of designated reserves has IKen agreed as
£17k.
This level of reserves will be reviewed annually but currently
having these reserves designated lowers the operational risk at
a time where the age of the hut is a prirnary concern. and
provides time for thc Trustees to react if circumstances change
whilst still meeting short terni operational commitments.
Seetion Reserves - un restricted

activities that are organised b> the sections. Any reserves are
designated by the leaders for the purpose of working capital.
and ii'ill be spent on thc members of the specific sections.
Funds restricted for the purpose of the new scout hut
Fundraising started for the neiv hut in July 2016. From July
2016 to March 2017, an), fundraising activities were
advertised restricting the income raised for the pU￿Se of the
new scout hut. Therefore, any income raised in this tirne will
be treated as restricted for this purry)se.
Funds in the Fundraising and Saving5 accounts from I
April 2017, and pre-July 2016 - unrestricted
Any tundraising in this tirne doesn.t specitically restrict the

income to the new hut and therefore will be treated as
unrcstricted. The Trustees have designated these t.unds t.or the
new scout hut which is a priority for the gmup and the
fundraising committee.
