Chair’s Statement

With life slowly going back to normality after the development of Coronavirus (Covid-19), this past year has seen us responding to fresh layers of challenge, uncertainty and an ever-increasing demand for our services. This reality makes the work of the organisation more important than ever. Remarkably we have come through the crisis in much better shape than we went into it. And we have renewed our ways of working and made the whole organisation more efficient. We have a strong base for growing and reinvention of our projects means we have been able to combine the best of our previous ways with our new and innovative ways of providing our services.

Looking back on the 12 months, I am exceptionally proud of all of our staffs, volunteers and members for so many fantastic achievements. As ever, I am committed to helping our community, build our capacity, and strengthen our organisation. We are enormously grateful of our longstanding relationships with many organisations, especially People’s Health Trust which in the last few years has supported our neighbourhood in building connections between local people, addressing health and wellbeing. I would like to thank John Lyon’s Charity for their continued support as well as BME Health Forum. We also like to thank Westminster City Council for supporting and valuing our work. QPBA has always been committed to making a positive difference in the lives of the local ethnic minority groups through our services. Our projects would not have happened without the combination of skills and resources of our partners. All our projects have been very well managed, this has only been possible through hard work and total commitment of our users, and I thank them all.

We have an excellent senior management committee, who bring a tremendous range of skills and diverse experience. It makes for a firm governance base for the charity. My sincere thanks go to our valuable funders, donors, supporters and all our staff & volunteers. Without them, we could not achieve what we do. I hope that with their continued assistance, we will be able to carry on to deliver projects and services beneficial for our community. I also thank all the volunteers for their time and effort in making all our programmes, events and projects successful. I look forward to seeing what exciting initiatives we can develop in future years’.

General Secretary’s Statement

‘So much has changed over the year, yet the principles remain the same within our work. We believe in people and their in-built abilities. Some of our most incredible successes over the year have been led by people who’d previously not been given the opportunity to succeed. And we continue to be a grassroots charity working flat out to deliver services and create opportunities in an area of high multiple deprivation. We see the impact of austerity, poverty and disadvantage on people’s lives every day.

The levels of mental ill-health and loneliness are rampant, and QPBA approach goes to the heart of the problem through its unique mix of connecting people with each other and supporting them with the downto-earth practical help they need. It has been greatly rewarding to see the impact our projects are already having in the Queen’s Park Ward and further afield. At a time when a rise in loneliness and youth violence is dominating headlines and services are being cut, it is sadly little exaggeration to speak of the importance of our programmes as a positive influence on some much challenged lives.

I hope that our association inspires our many diverse communities to work together, and I believe we are an organisation that offers services and prospects to the whole community.’

Management Committee’s Statement

‘We would like to thank all our dedicated staff team and supporters for their contribution which made it possible to keep our service. We are very grateful for all support given by charities trusts, foundations, individuals and businesses. We thank them for all they do to improve the lives of our neighbourhood’

I would like to express my thanks to all of our funders, donors and supporters who have helped us much with the grants they have given during this successful year.’
