## **Chair’s Statement** 

_With the ongoing development of Coronavirus (Covid-19) and the wide-reaching implications it is having around the UK and world, we are dedicated to ensuring that our communities and those in most need are supported at this very important time. We have lost many beloved members of our community and it seems clear that the pandemic and lockdowns have affected the hardest on BAME people and it has never been more important for us to navigate and manage the impact of Covid on our community and neighbourhood._ 

_Looking back on the 24 months since I took on the Chairmanship, I am exceptionally proud of all of our staff, volunteers and members for so many fantastic achievements. I am committed to helping our community, build our capacity, and strengthen our organisation. We are very proud of our partnership with many organisations, especially People’s Health Trust which in the last few years has supported our neighbourhood in building connections between local people, addressing health and wellbeing. I would like John Lyon’s Charity for their continued support as well as BME Health Forum. QPBA has always been committed to making a positive difference in the lives of the local ethnic minority groups through our services. Our projects would not have happened without the combination of skills and resources of our partners. All our projects have been very well managed, this has only been possible through hard work and total commitment of our users, and I thank them all._ 

_I would also like to thank all our management committees and project staff for their sincere and competent work. My sincere thanks go to our valuable funders, donors, supporters and all our staff & volunteers. Without them, we could not achieve what we do. I hope that with their continued assistance, we will be able to carry on to deliver projects and services beneficial for our community. I also thank all the volunteers for their time and effort in making all our programmes, events and projects successful. I look forward to seeing what exciting initiatives we can develop in future years’._ 

## **General Secretary’s Statement** 

_‘So much has changed over the year, yet the principles remain the same within our work. We believe in people and their in-built abilities._ Some of our most incredible successes over the year have been led by people who’d previously not been given the opportunity to succeed. _And we continue to be a grassroots charity working flat out to deliver services and create opportunities in an area of high multiple deprivation. We see the impact of austerity, poverty and disadvantage on people’s lives every day._ 

_The levels of mental ill-health and loneliness are rampant across this great borough, and QPBA approach goes to the heart of the problem through its unique mix of connecting people with each other and supporting them with the down-to-earth practical help they need. It has been greatly rewarding to see the impact our projects are already having in the Queen’s Park Ward and further afield. At a time when a rise in loneliness and youth violence is dominating headlines and services are being cut, it is sadly little exaggeration to speak of the importance of our programmes as a positive influence on some much challenged lives._ 

_I hope that our association inspires our many diverse communities to work together, and I believe it is an organisation that offers services and prospects to the whole community.’_

_‘We would like to thank all our dedicated staff team and supporters for their contribution which made it possible to keep our service going. We are very grateful for all support given by charities trusts, foundations, individuals and businesses. We thank them hugely for all they do to improve the lives of our neighbourhood’_

## **Annual Account Report** 

_‘it is our privilege to present to you the financial statements for the year ending 31[st] March 2021. Having faced extremely challenging times we managed to make QPBA stronger. We have secured a few funding streams to provide our community support. We hope to become stronger in the coming financial year and increase our capacity and continue our services. I would like to express my thanks to all of our funders, donors and supporters who have helped us much with the grants they have given during this successful year.’_ 

The key features of our financial activities for the year 2020 – 2021 are: 

- THE TOTAL INCOME IN 2020 – 2021 AMOUNTED TO £ 56,554 COMPARED TO £ 24,865 IN 2019 - 2020. 

- THE TOTAL EXPENSES IN 2020 – 2021 AMOUNTED TO £ 46,076 COMPARED TO £ 26,178 IN 2019 - 2020. 

_‘We have focused on trying to use our finances more efficiently without affecting the quality of the essential services we provide. I would like to give my thanks to all of our members and organisers that have made this organisation what it is today.’_

## **Our Aim** 

Queen’s Park Bangladesh Association is a non-profit making and non-political community-led organisation working for the benefit of residents in North Westminster, Brent and Kensington. We want to provide advice, education, training, recreation services & activities to disadvantaged people to improve community relations, religious harmony and quality of life. 

## **Our Objective** 

To ensure all local residents in the area have good access to services including advice, housing, health, employment, education and leisure activities. 

-  To improve access to the range of information and mainstream services. 

-  To increase household income, creating awareness on benefits entitlement. 

-  To increase the knowledge and confidence of young children, to have appropriate support and facilities. 

-  To increase the health, wellbeing and recreation facilities of residents. 

-  To ensure the area is a safe place for Bangladeshi and all local residents. 

-  Reduce isolation preventing access to social networks and peer support. 

-  Ensure QPBA is a well governed, managed and financially secure organisation. 

## _**Trustees’ responsibilities**_ 

Company law requires the charity trustees, to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of the affairs of the charity and of the results of the return at the period. In preparing those financial reports, the trustees are required to: 

- Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently; 

- Make judgement and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; 

- State whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any materials departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements; 

- Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to assume that the company will continue on that basis. 

The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the company and enable it to ensure that the financial statements comply with the relevant Act. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the company and hence for taking reasonable steps and detect fraud and other irregularities.

## _**Accountant’s report**_ 

In accordance with your instructions, and in order to assist you to prepare your accounts, we have compiled the financial statements of the organization for the year ended 31 March 2021, which comprise the Income and Expenditure account, the Balance Sheet and the related notes, from the accounting records of the organization and information and explanations you have provide to us. 

This report is made to the trustees of the organization, in accordance with the terms of our engagement. 

You have acknowledged on the balance sheet as at 31 March 2021, your duty to ensure that the organization has kept proper accounting records and to prepare financial statements that give a true and fair view. You consider that the organization is exempt from the statuary requirement for an audit for the year. 

We have not carried out an audit of the financial statements. We do not, therefore, express any opinion on the financial statements.
