Independent Examiners. Report To The Trustees of St Barnabas Pre-school Nursery
I report on the accounts for the Trustees for the year ended 31st December 2024
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. Th8 charitys
trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under section 144 of the
Charities Act 2011 ("the Charitl8s Act") and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
Examine the accounts (under section 145 of the Charities Act).
Follow the procedure laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission (under
section 14515) Ib) of the Charities Act ).
State whether parti¢ular matters have come to my attention.
Basis Of Independent Examlnerfs Report
My examination was carried out in accordance with General Directions given by the Charity
Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and
comparison of the accounts presented with Ihose records.11 also includes consideration of any unusual
items or disclosures in the accounts,and seeking explanations from you as truslees Con￿rning any such
matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit,
and consequently I do nol express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
Independant Examinerfs Statement
In connection with my examination. no material matters have come to my attention which gives me cause
to believe that in, any material respect:
(1) the accounting records were not kept in accordance wth section 130 of the Charities Act; or
(2) the accounts did not accord wilh the accounting records; or
(3) the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements conceming th8 fonn and content
of th6 a¢¢ounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any
requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair vievl which is not a matter considered as part
of an independent examination.
I have Come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be
drawn in this r8POrt in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to ba reached.

Trustee selection: Trustees are appointed by the existing Trustees at each Annual General Meeting.
No other person or body is entitled to appoint Trustees. There are no custodian trustees.

the conlrol of the Manager together with her deputy. Decisions are made at Trustees meetings and
by correspondence as necessary between meetings. There is no other or9ani5ational structure.

Charitable activities: Th8 nursery is not currently fully subscribed.
Fundralslng activitles: The majority of funding arises from fees and grants. However. the Trustees
are grateful for the assistance given in other fundraising activities in the year. These include photo
sales and raffles.
Perfom)anee: Whilst there is some competition from other pre-school facilities the Trustees are
confident that there will be a need for the full use of the nursews facilities for the foreseeable
future. Th8 Trustees ar8 fully aware of the need to recruit and retain suitable qualified and
motivated staff and take active steps to ensure job sakn'sfaclion.
Section 4 Policies and Financial Review
Reserves policy: Trustees review the reserves held by the charity on a continuing basis, and
in accordance with the commitments that have been given. The charity has sufficient reserves to
meet its obligalions for Ihe twelve months to 31 st December 2025. The Trustees consider that the
most appropriate level of free reserves would be equivalent to three monlhs expenditure.
Investment selection policy: Surplus funds are retained in bank deposits until used. The
Trustees seek to maximise the interest gained without subjecting funds to any risk. They are
reviewed from time to time.
Flnanclal Revlew
The results for the year are attached. The Trustees review the financial summary on a regular basis
and all appropriate financial arrangements are in place.
Section 5 Statement of Trustees. responsibllltles
The law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires that the Trustees prepare financial
statements for each financial year which give a trues and fair wew of the charills financial
activities during a financial year and of its financial position at the end of each financial year. In
preparing ihese financial statements the Trustees are required to-
Select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently.,
Make judgements and estimates which are reasonable and prudent;
State whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material
departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements.
Prepar8 the financial statements on a 'going concem, basis unless it is inappropraite to
presume that Ihe Gharity will continue in business.
The Trustees have overall responsibility for ensuring that the charity has appropriate systems of
ontrol, financial and olherwise, in place. They are also responsible for keeping proper accounting
records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity
and which enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act.
They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hen￿ for taking
reasonable steps to prevent and detect fraud or other irregularities.
The Truslees have complied with the duty to have due regard to the guidance
on public benefit published by the Commission in exercising their powers and
duties.
