The charity holds reserves lo cover redundancy payments should they be necessary. Duriiis a year in
which Idr8e nLunbers of ihildren are eligible for (undins (Nursery Education Ciranll reserves MAY be

The iharity had a deficlt thl's financial year bul had reserves to cover the shortfall. The deficit was

The charity receive5 (undin8 from Portsmouth City Council (PCCI for each session attended by a
child elisible for Nursery kducats'on Grant {NEG) or 2-year-old fundin& up lo 15 hour5 a week per
child. Some children have been ell￿ble for 30-hour funding t￿"5 year. Fees are paid by parents lor
additional hoiirs and for children not eligible for NEG or hJndin8. Ihe charity alx) receives Early
Years Pupil Premium from PLC to help improve the learnins outiomes oi disadi'antagt'd k liil¢lreii.

Pupil numbers were lower than usual. Parents of prospectt. ve pupils were unable to visit during the
seL-ond half ot the 2019-90 academic year resuliins in fewer slarters. &)me parents were reluctant to
brins their children to preschool. Most of our usual fundraisins acb"vitses were not Pssible due to
re5triiLions.
It is hoped that the hnancial situation will be better in 2(r)l-L. Visits outside of prthl sessions
have now started and pupil numbers have increased.
