Rotary Club of the Weald of Kent Trust Fund
Trustees Report
l. The Fund usually has a very broad range of beneficiaries both
by geography and by size- 2023-4 was no exception.
2. The main fundraising activity was again the annual North
Downs, Walk in aid of Cancer Research UK.
a. The amount raised by the 2023 walk including Gift-Aid,
totalled £15,065.16.
b. The Fund received sponsorship of £3,000 for the walk
from The Family Funeral Service, with the result that the
Fund was able to donate the whole £15,065.16 to Cancer
Research UK.
c. At 30 June 2024 the Fund held an amount of £6,346.11
earmarked as "future walk expenses reserve" to enable
the Trust to continue to operate the walk on the same
basis for 2 years should our current sponsor withdraw.
Hopefully this will not be the case but, in such event, the
Trust would have 2 years to find a replacement sponsor or
sponsors.
3. Other national charities to receive "significant" grants were
the Spinal Injuries Association (£553.75 raised at 2 specific
Rotary Club Dinners) and the Royal British Legion Industries
(£431.25)

4. Grants made to fund overseas causes totalled £2,218.75 and
included:
a. £1,312.5 to alleviate the suffering following the
Turkish/Syrian earthquake. These funds were raised at a
one-off dinner in a local restaurant.
b. £262.5 to Christian Aid, and £262.5 to the Leprosy
Mission, both donations arising from the proceeds of a
monthly draw held by the Rotary Club to help the Trust
Fund to finance diverse charities.
5, Local charities supported by the Fund included the KSS air
Ambulance Charity (£400 to help provide a new air
ambulance) and Heart of Kent (£450 to provide refrigeration
facilities for their food pantry).
6. Finally, in order to support Rotary International's own charity
the Rotary Club (sponsors of the Trust Fund) has recently
adopted a policy of paying IO% of all eligible* funds raised
during the year to Rotary Foundation. Accordingly, and,
augmented by personal contributions, a grant of £255 was
made to Foundation.
