## **Chairman's Report 2022** Another year has passed and the spectre of Covid and it’s likely impacts are still with us. That it’s effects due to the vaccination programme are not likely to impact as much as it has over the past two years is something of a blessing. As the centre tries to get back to normal running, it is extremely pleasing that we seem to have recovered from the hiatus that was covid and in terms of our five year plan we have moved to a position in terms of our finances that we hoped to have been in two years ago. That we are now generating several months where our income exceeds expenditure is particularly rewarding. This achievement is due in a great part to the efforts of Sarah our Centre Manager. She has, despite her best efforts, had to endure too many months where this has not happened and her frustrations at not achieving this goal has been a testament to her resilience and determination. So it gives me great pleasure on behalf of all the trustees to pass on our thanks and gratitude to Sarah for achieving this milestone.. In noting the efforts that she has made I would also like to thank our long serving and enduring Groundsman. Without his efforts and consistent resolve to keep the centre well maintained and functioning the centre would not consistently be looking so well cared for. We now have a healthy mix of care and social providers on site and as a busy and happy site. Having such a relaxing and happy environment does I am sure add a great deal to satisfaction and enjoyment to the users of their services. We need to maintain the philosophy of the site and ensure potential other groups who want to make use of our facilities benefit from what we have to offer. Mirroring our Aims and ambitions for the future. I spoke earlier about the five year plan and I think it is time that we address the next five years in order to give Sarah a road map to work to. In the completion of a new plan it is evident to me that one of the threats we face is maintaining a healthy level of trustees and their involvement in the overseeing of the Charity and it’s future. I am extremely grateful to the current group of Trustees and those who support the Chair directly through the Vice Chair and Treasurer Roles. But we are all aware of the threats to that situation. We need, as I have said on a number of occasions to look to increasing the number of Trustees. Those we have are excellent but it doesn't take much to make the situation re numbers at a meeting close to making the charity not quorate. So I think we need some discussions about increasing numbers of trustees but not to the situation where those on the Trustee board don’t enjoy or have fulfilment from their role. During the year discussions began to consider the future definition of LRAC as a charity or whether it should pursue the option to become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). The decision to go down this route or not will I am sure be a feature of next years programme. This end of year report is therefore one with a more positive outlook. We essentially have a good product to sell and to benefit the community of Louth and the wider county of Lincolnshire. The charity is in good hands when served by the Trustee Board and managed by Sarah, supported by Stuart. I look forward to the next five years and beyond.
