The object of the charity is to provide a place of worship for the Muslim communit),
and a ccntre for religious educatiOD for Muslims {childreD and adults).
Activities and Achievement
The Centre provides a place of worship for Mu51im5, and also provides
essential Islamic education for the local Muslim community, bolh children and adults.
The Centre also acts as a community centre for social contact for both
indigenous and visiting Muslims.
The Islamic Ccntre has bccn involved in Islamic awareness projects.
Additionally it participated in various programmes designed to promote integration
along with the local Authorities and various charity organisations such as Racial
Equality Council and Church Groups. The Centre is represented on the Dorset Police
Muslim Advisory Group.
The Bournemouth Islamic Centre & Central Mosque plays an essenlial role
in providing services to local schools whereby representatives either visit schools or

receive groups of school children at the Centre, and convey information on Islam as
part of the requirements of the National Curriculurn on Religiou5 Education.
The Centre also provides rcpresenlatives to give talks on Islam to
Churches, Local Govcrnmcnt, Policc, Collcges, and other entities. It also provided
representatives of the Muslim community and have been involved in various cultural
training sessions wilh the local Police Authority. The Imam is also on the
Bournemouth University Chaplaincy and acts as Imam to the Bournemouth University
Muslim Society.
The Trustees have, over the year, continued to look at ways of improving our
5er%'ices to the Community, and take an active interesl in all matters, and agreed to
continue Support of tbe Centre and improve the facilities.
Trustees Board emphasised on the continuity of cooperation between The
Islamic Centre in Bournemouth and NHS Chaplaincies for the services of the Muslim
COTnmunity.
The Trustees noled Ihe necessity of adding new service to the deceased of tbe
Muslim comTnunity including the supervision of the Muslim f emetery by agreement
Ivith Bournemouth council.
The Bournemouth Islamic CeDtre & Central Mosque continues to Contribute greatly to
the cultural and religious awareness in and around Dorset. The Trustees continue to
regularly support tbe Centre and encourage the involvement in all local affairs.

It is my responsibility to: 

- examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act, 

- to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act, and 

- to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. 

**Basis of independent** My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given **examiner’s statement** by the Charity Commission.  An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records.  It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters.  The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
